And the disciples came and said to him, Why dost thou speak to them in parables? He answered and said, Because to you it hath been given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven; but to them it hath not been given.

And when he was in private, they who were about him, with the twelve, asked him about the parables. And he said to them, To you hath been given the mystery of the kingdom of God; but to them, who are without, all things are done in parables; t

And his disciples asked him what this parable meant. And he said, To you it hath been given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God; but to others [these things are spoken] in parables; that while seeing they may not see, and while hearing they may not understand.

Then he poureth water into the basin, and began to wash the disciples feet, and to wipe them with the towel wherewith he was girded. So he cometh to Simon Peter; who saith to him, Lord, dost thou wash my feet? Jesus answered and said to him, What I do thou knowest not now, but thou wilt know hereafter. read more.
Peter saith to him, Thou shalt never wash my feet. Jesus answered him, If I wash thee not, thou hast no part with me. Simon Peter saith to him, Lord, not my feet only, but also my hands and my head.

For this cause [I bend my knees], I Paul, the prisoner of Christ Jesus for you gentiles; if, indeed, ye heard of the dispensation of the grace of God which was given me toward you, that by revelation the mystery was made known to me, as I wrote before in few words, read more.
whereby, when ye read, ye may perceive my insight into the mystery of Christ; which in other generations was not made known to the sons of men, as it hath now been revealed to his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit; that the gentiles are fellowheirs, and of the same body, and partakers with us of the promise in Christ Jesus through the gospel;

riseth from the supper, and layeth aside his garments, and took a towel, and girded himself. Then he poureth water into the basin, and began to wash the disciples feet, and to wipe them with the towel wherewith he was girded. So he cometh to Simon Peter; who saith to him, Lord, dost thou wash my feet? read more.
Jesus answered and said to him, What I do thou knowest not now, but thou wilt know hereafter. Peter saith to him, Thou shalt never wash my feet. Jesus answered him, If I wash thee not, thou hast no part with me. Simon Peter saith to him, Lord, not my feet only, but also my hands and my head. Jesus saith to him, He that hath bathed needeth not to wash himself, but is wholly clean; and ye are clean, but not all. For he knew who was about to betray him; for this reason he said, Ye are not all clean. So after he had washed their feet, and had taken his garments, and placed himself again at the table, he said to them, Know ye what I have done to you? Ye call me the Teacher, and the Lord; and ye say well; for so I am. If I then, the Lord and the Teacher, have washed your feet, ye also ought to wash one anothers feet.
