Then Pilate hearing these words, led out Jesus, and sat down on the tribunal, in the place called Pavement, but in Hebrew, Gabbatha. Then they cried out, Take Him away, take Him away, crucify Him. Pilate says to them, Shall I crucify your King? And the chief priests responded, We have no king but Caesar. Therefore he then delivered Him to them that He should be crucified. Then they took Jesus and led Him away.


And Pilate, wishing to do the multitude a favor, released unto them Barabbas.And having scourged Jesus, he delivered Him up that He should be crucified.

Then they being assembled, Pilate said to them, Whom do you wish that I may release unto you? Barabbas? or Jesus who is called Christ? For he knew that they delivered Him on account of envy. And he sitting on his tribunal, his wife sent to him, saying, Let there be nothing to thee and that just man: for this day I suffered many things in a dream on account of Him. read more.
And the chief priests and elders persuaded the multitudes that they should ask Barabbas, and destroy Jesus. And the governor responding said to them, Which of the two do you wish that I shall release unto you? And they said Barabbas. Pilate says to them, Then what shall I do with Jesus who is called Christ? They all say to him, Let Him be crucified. And the governor said, For what evil hath He done? And they continued to cry out more vociferously, saying, Let Him be crucified. And Pilate seeing that he profits nothing, but rather an uproar supervenes, having taken water, washed his hands in the presence of the multitude, saying, For I am free from the blood of this just one: you shall see to it. And all the people responding said, His blood be upon us, and upon our children. Then he released unto them Barabbas.And having scourged Jesus, delivered Him up that He should be crucified.

Pilate having called together the chief priests and the rulers and the people, said to them, You have brought to me this man, as revolutionizing the people: and behold, I, judging Him before you, found nothing in this man criminal of those things which you accuse against Him. But Herod did not: for he sent Him back to us; and behold, nothing worthy of death has been done by Him. read more.

There is a custom to you, that I release unto you one during the passover. Then do you wish that I may release unto you the King of the Jews? Then they all again cried out, saying, Not Him, but Barabbas. And Barabbas was a robber.

Then when the high priest and officers saw Him, they cried out, Crucify Him, crucify Him. Pilate says to them, You take Him, and crucify Him: for I find nothing criminal in Him. And the Jews responded, We have a law, and according to law He ought to die, because He made Himself the Son of God. Then when Pilate heard this word, he feared the more; read more.

Then Pilate came again into the judgment hall, and asked Jesus, and said to Him, Art thou the King of the Jews?


And Pilate asked Him, Art thou the King of the Jews? And responding He says to him, Thou sayest it.

And the superscription of His accusation was written over Him, THE KING OF THE JEWS.

And they began to accuse Him, saying, We found Him perverting the nation, and forbidding to give tribute to Caesar, saying that He is Christ, a King. And Pilate asked Him, saying, Art thou the King of the Jews? And responding to him, He said, Thou sayest it.


And Pilate also wrote His title, and placed it upon the cross. And it was written, JESUS THE NAZARENE THE KING OF THE JEWS. Then many of the Jews read this title: because the place where Jesus was crucified was near the city: And it was written in Hebrew, Greek, and Roman. Then the chief priests of the Jews said to Pilate, Write not, King of the Jews; but that He said, I am the King of the Jews. read more.

And the chief priests persuaded the multitude that he should rather release unto them Barabbas.
