But when his brethren were gone up, then he also went up unto the feast, not openly, but as it were in secret. Then the Jews sought him at the feast and said, Where is he? And there was much murmuring among the people concerning him, for some said, He is a good man; others said, No, but he deceives the people. But no one spoke openly of him for fear of the Jews. Now about the midst of the feast Jesus went up into the temple and taught.

And it came to pass when the time was come that he should be received up, he steadfastly set his face to go to Jerusalem and sent messengers before his face; and they went and entered into a village of the Samaritans to make ready for him. And it came to pass that as they went in the way, a certain man said unto him, Lord, I will follow thee whithersoever thou goest. And Jesus said unto him, Foxes have holes, and birds of the heaven have nests, but the Son of man has not where to lay his head. And he said unto another, Follow me. But he said, Lord, allow me first to go and bury my father. Jesus said unto him, Let the dead bury their dead, but go thou and declare the kingdom of God. And another also said, Lord, I will follow thee, but let me first go bid farewell those who are at home at my house. And Jesus said unto him, No one having put his hand to the plough and looking back is fit for the kingdom of God.
