Gilgal » Place of the first encampment of the israelites west of the jordan river
The people came up from the Jordan on the tenth day of the first month, and camped at Gilgal on the eastern limits of Jericho.

So Joshua conquered the whole region-the hill country, the Negev, the Judean foothills, and the slopes-with all their kings, leaving no survivors.
