Abhorrence » of the Lord
Ye shall therefore keep all my statutes, and all my judgments, and do them: that the land whither I bring you to dwell therein, may not vomit you out. And ye shall not walk in the manners of the nations which I cast out before you: for they committed all these things, and therefore I abhorred them. But I have said to you, Ye shall inherit their land, and I will give it to you to possess it, a land that floweth with milk and honey: I am the LORD your God, who have separated you from other people.
They sacrificed to devils, not to God; to gods which they knew not, to new gods that came newly up, whom your fathers feared not. Of the Rock that begat thee thou art unmindful, and hast forgotten God that formed thee. And when the LORD saw it, he abhorred them, because of the provoking of his sons, and of his daughters.
Thou shalt destroy them that speak falsehood: the LORD will abhor the bloody and deceitful man.
For the wicked boasteth of his heart's desire, and blesseth the covetous, whom the LORD abhorreth.
The mouth of strange women is a deep pit: he that is abhorred by the LORD shall fall therein.

By lot was their inheritance, as the LORD commanded by the hand of Moses, for the nine tribes, and for the half-tribe.

And ye shall be holy to me: for I the LORD am holy, and have severed you from other people, that ye should be mine.
Ye shall therefore distinguish between clean beasts and unclean, and between unclean fowls and clean: and ye shall not make your souls abominable by beast or by fowl, or by any manner of living animal that creepeth on the ground, which I have separated from you as unclean. And ye shall be holy to me: for I the LORD am holy, and have severed you from other people, that ye should be mine.
For they are thy people, and thy inheritance, which thou broughtest out of Egypt, from the midst of the furnace of iron: That thy eyes may be open to the supplication of thy servant, and to the supplication of thy people Israel, to hearken to them in all their supplications to thee. For thou didst separate them from among all the people of the earth, to be thy inheritance, as thou didst speak by the hand of Moses thy servant, when thou broughtest our fathers out of Egypt, O Lord GOD.
