Luke 16:1

And He said also to His disciples, "There was a certain rich man who had a steward, and the same was accused to him as squandering his goods.

Luke 16:2

And, calling him, he said to him, 'What is this I hear of you? Render the account of your stewardship; for you can be no longer steward.'

Luke 16:3

And the steward said in himself, 'What shall I do? because my lord takes away the stewardship from me! To dig, I have not strength; to beg, I am ashamed!

Luke 16:4

I resolved what to do; that, when I am removed from the stewardship, they may receive me into their houses.'

Luke 16:5

And, calling to him each one of his lord's debtors, he said to the first, 'How much do you owe my lord?'

Luke 16:6

And he said, 'A hundred measures of oil.' And he said to him, 'Take your accounts, and, sitting down, quickly write, Fifty.'

Luke 16:7

After that he said to another, 'And how much do you owe?' And he said, 'A hundred measures of wheat.' He says to him, 'Take your accounts, and write, Four score.'

Luke 16:8

And the lord praised the steward of unrighteousness, because he acted prudently; because the sons of this age are more prudent toward their own generation, than the sons of light.

Luke 16:9

And I say to you, make to yourselves friends out of the mammon of unrighteousness; that, when it fails, they may receive you into everlasting tabernacles.

Luke 16:10

He that is faithful in the least is faithful also in much; he that is unrighteous in the least is unrighteous in much.

Luke 16:11

If, therefore, ye were not faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will entrust to you the true riches?

Luke 16:12

And, if ye were not faithful in that which is another's, who will give to you your own?

Luke 16:13

No domestic can serve two lords; for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or he will hold to one, and despise the other: ye cannot serve God and mammon."

Luke 16:14

And the Pharisees, being lovers of money, were hearing all these things, and were openly mocking Him.

Luke 16:15

And He said to them, "Ye are those who justify yourselves before men; but God knoweth your hearts; because that which is exalted among men is an abomination before God.

Luke 16:16

"The law and the prophets were until John; from that time the Gospel of the Kingdom of God is proclaimed, and every one presses into it by force!

Luke 16:17

But it is easier for heaven and earth to pass away, than for one tittle of the law to fall.

Luke 16:18

"Every one who puts away his wife, and marries another, commits adultery; and he who marries a woman divorced from her husband, commits adultery.

Luke 16:19

"Now there was a certain rich man, and he was clothed in purple and fine linen, faring sumptuously every day.

Luke 16:20

And a certain poor man, Lazarus by name, had been laid at his gate, full of sores,

Luke 16:21

and desiring to be fed with the crumbs falling from the rich man's table; yea, even the dogs, coming, were licking his sores.

Luke 16:22

And it came to pass that the poor man died, and that he was carried away by the angels into Abraham's bosom. And the rich man also died, and was buried;

Luke 16:23

and in Hades, lifting up his eyes, being in torments, he sees Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.

Luke 16:24

And, crying, he said, 'Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; because I am in anguish in this flame!'

Luke 16:25

But Abraham said, 'Child, remember that, in your lifetime, you received in full your good things, and Lazarus, likewise, evil things; but now here he is comforted, and you are in anguish.

Luke 16:26

And, in all these things, between us and you a great chasm has been fixed; so that those wishing to cross from hence to you cannot; nor do they pass from thence to us.'

Luke 16:27

And he said, 'I pray you, therefore, father, that you would send him to my father's house;

Luke 16:28

for I have five brothers; that he may testify to them, lest they also come into this place of torment.'

Luke 16:29

But Abraham says, 'They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them.'

Luke 16:30

But he said, 'Nay, father Abraham; but, if one go to them from the dead, they will repent.'

Luke 16:31

But he said to him, 'If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, if one rose from the dead.'"
