Luke 19:1

And entering into Jericho he passed through it.

Luke 19:2

And behold, there was a man called Zaccheus, and he was chief publican, and was rich.

Luke 19:3

And he sought to see Jesus, who he was; and could not on account of the multitude, because he was of small stature.

Luke 19:4

And running before, he went up on a sycamore that he might see him; for he was to pass by it.

Luke 19:5

And when he came to the place, Jesus looking up saw him, and said to him, Zaccheus, make haste and come down, for to-day I must stop at your house;

Luke 19:6

and he made haste and came down, and received him rejoicing.

Luke 19:7

And seeing it, they all complained, saying, He has gone in to stop with a sinner.

Luke 19:8

And Zaccheus stood up and said to the Lord, Behold, half of my property, Lord, I give to the poor; and if I have defrauded any one of any thing, I restore fourfold.

Luke 19:9

And Jesus said to him, To-day has salvation come to this house, because he also is a son of Abraham;

Luke 19:10

for the Son of man has come to seek and save the lost.

Luke 19:11

And when they were hearing these things, he added and spoke a parable, because he was nigh Jerusalem; and they thought that the kingdom of God was immediately to appear.

Luke 19:12

He said, therefore, A certain nobleman went into a distant country to receive a kingdom for himself, and to return.

Luke 19:13

And calling his ten servants, he gave them ten minas [$163.30], and said to them, Use them in business till I come.

Luke 19:14

And his citizens hated him, and sent an embassy after him, saying, We wish not this man to reign over us.

Luke 19:15

And he returned, having received the kingdom, and ordered those servants to be called to him to whom he had given the money, that he might know what each one had done.

Luke 19:16

And the first came, saying, Lord, your mina [$16.33] has gained ten minas.

Luke 19:17

And he said to him, Well, good servant; because you have been faithful in the least, have authority over ten cities.

Luke 19:18

And the second came, saying, Lord, your mina has made five minas.

Luke 19:19

And he said to him, Be you over five cities.

Luke 19:20

And the other came, saying, Lord, behold your mina, which I had laid up in a napkin;

Luke 19:21

for I feared you, because you are an austere man; you take up what you laid not down, and reap what you did not sow.

Luke 19:22

He said to him, Out of your mouth will I judge you, evil servant. You knew that I am an austere man, taking up what I laid not down, and reaping what I did not sow?

Luke 19:23

then why did you not put my silver on the [broker's] table, and when I came I should have had the same, with interest?

Luke 19:24

And he said to those standing by, Take from him the mina, and give it to him that has ten minas,??25 and they said to him, Lord, he has ten minas,??26 for I tell you, that to every one that has shall be given; but from him that has not, even what he has shall be taken away;

Luke 19:27

but those my enemies that wished me not to reign over them, bring hither and kill them before me.

Luke 19:28

AND having said these things he went forward going up to Jerusalem.

Luke 19:29

And when he came near to Bethphage and Bethany, at the mountain called the Mount of Olives, he sent two of the disciples,

Luke 19:30

saying, Go into the village opposite to you, and having entered into it you will find a colt tied, on which no man ever sat; untie and bring him;

Luke 19:31

and if any one asks you, Why do you untie him? Say thus to him; The Lord has need of him.

Luke 19:32

And those sent, going, found as he said to them.

Luke 19:33

And untying the colt, his owners said to them, Why do you untie the colt?

Luke 19:34

And they said, The Lord has need of him.

Luke 19:35

And they brought him to Jesus; and spreading their clothes on the colt they put Jesus on him.

Luke 19:36

And as he proceeded they spread their clothes in the way.

Luke 19:37

And when he was now approaching, at the descent of the Mount of Olives, all the multitude of the disciples began to rejoice, and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works which they saw,

Luke 19:38

saying, Blessed is the king who comes in the name of the Lord; peace be in heaven, and glory in the highest [heavens].

Luke 19:39

And some of the Pharisees, from the multitude, said to him, Teacher, rebuke your disciples.

Luke 19:40

And he answered and said to them, I tell you that if these should be silent the stones would cry out.

Luke 19:41

And when he came near and saw the city he wept over it,

Luke 19:42

saying, O, that you had known, even you, and indeed in this your day, the things which are for your peace! But now they are hid from your eyes.

Luke 19:43

For days of [trouble] will come upon you, and your enemies shall throw an embankment around you, and shut you in, and press you on every side,

Luke 19:44

and destroy you and your children with you, and not leave stone upon stone in you; because you knew not the time of your visitation.

Luke 19:45

And going into the temple he cast out those that sold,

Luke 19:46

saying to them, it is written, My house shall be a house of prayer; but you have made it a den of robbers.

Luke 19:47

AND he taught daily in the temple; and the chief priests, and scribes, and the first of the people sought to destroy him.

Luke 19:48

And they found nothing that they could do; for all the people were attentive to hear him.
