"It is a phantom," they said, and cried out for fear. But at once Jesus spoke to them, "Courage," he said, "it is I. Fear not." Peter answered, "Master, if it is you, bid me come to you upon the water." "Come," said Jesus. Then Peter got down from the boat and walked on the water to go to Jesus. What made you doubt?" Then as they climbed into the boat the wind grew weary, and the men in the boat fell upon their knees before him, saying, "You are, indeed, the Son of God."

On one occasion when he was standing by the lake of Gennesaret, the crowd pressed upon him to listen to the word of God. But he saw two fishing-boats on the shore of the lake; the fishermen had disembarked and were washing their nets. He went on board one of the boats which belonged to Simon, and asked him to push out a little way from land. Then he sat down and continued to teach the crowd from the boat. read more.

"Master," answered Simon, "although we toiled all night, we took nothing; but at your bidding I will let down the nets." And when they had done this they enclosed a great multitude of fish; and their nets began to break. So they motioned to their partners in the other boat to come and help them. They came and filled both boats, so that they began to sink. When Simon Peter saw this he fell down at the knees of Jesus, exclaiming, "Depart from me, O Lord, for I am a sinful man!" Simon Peter said to them, "I am going fishing." They answered him, "And we are going with you." So they went out and got into the boat, and throughout the night they caught nothing. read more.
