When they were going about here and there in Galilee, Jesus said to them, The Son of Man is going to be turned over into the hands of men. And they will kill Him, and He will be raised [to life] again on the third day. And they were deeply and exceedingly grieved and distressed.

They went on from there and passed along through Galilee. And He did not wish to have anyone know it, For He was [engaged for the time being in] teaching His disciples. He said to them, The Son of Man is being delivered into the hands of men, and they will put Him to death; and when He has been killed, after three days He will rise [ from death]. But they did not comprehend what He was saying, and they were afraid to ask Him [what this statement meant].

And all were astounded at the evidence of God's mighty power and His majesty and magnificence. But [while] they were all marveling at everything Jesus was doing, He said to His disciples, Let these words sink into your ears: the Son of Man is about to be delivered into the hands of men [ whose conduct is opposed to God]. However, they did not comprehend this saying; and it was kept hidden from them, so that they should not grasp it and understand, and they were afraid to ask Him about the statement.
