And he commanded the multitude to sit down on the grass and took the five loaves and the two fishes; and looking up to heaven, he blessed and broke and gave the loaves to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude.

And he took the seven loaves and the fishes and gave thanks and broke them and gave to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude.

And when they had done this, they inclosed a great multitude of fishes, and their net was breaking.

And he said unto them, Take nothing for your journey: neither staves nor provision bag, neither bread, neither money, neither have two coats apiece. And whatever house ye enter into, abide there and depart from there. And whosoever will not receive you, when ye go out of that city, shake off the very dust from your feet for a testimony against them. read more.
And they departed and went through the towns, preaching the gospel and healing every where. Now Herod the tetrarch heard of all that was done by him, and he was perplexed because it was said of some that John was risen from the dead, and of some, that Elijah had appeared, and of others, that one of the old prophets was risen again. And Herod said, I have beheaded John, but who is this of whom I hear such things? And he desired to see him. And the apostles, when they were returned, told him all that they had done. And he took them and went aside privately into a desert place belonging to the city called Bethsaida. And the people, when they knew it, followed him, and he received them and spoke unto them of the kingdom of God and healed those that had need of healing. And when the day began to wear away, then came the twelve and said unto him, Send the multitude away that they may go into the towns and country round about and lodge and get victuals, for we are here in a desert place. But he said unto them, Give ye them to eat. And they said, We have no more than five loaves and two fishes, unless we should go and buy food for all these people. For they were about five thousand men. And he said to his disciples, Make them sit down in companies of fifty. And they did so and made them all sit down. Then he took the five loaves and the two fishes, and looking up to heaven, he blessed them and broke and gave to the disciples to set before the multitude. And they ate and were all filled, and there was taken up of fragments that remained to them twelve baskets.

And the king was sorry; nevertheless because of the oath and of those who sat with him at the table, he commanded it to be given her. And he sent and beheaded John in the prison. And king Herod heard of him (for his name was spread abroad), and he said, John the Baptist has risen from the dead, and therefore virtues operate in him. Others said, It is Elijah. And others said, It is the prophet or one of the prophets. But when Herod heard of it, he said, This is John, whom I beheaded: he is risen from the dead.

And when a convenient day was come, that Herod on his birthday made a supper to his princes and tribunes and to the principal people of Galilee; and when the daughter of Herodias came in and danced and pleased Herod and those that sat with him, the king said unto the damsel, Ask of me whatsoever thou wilt, and I will give it unto thee. And he swore unto her, Whatsoever thou shalt ask of me, I will give it unto thee, unto the half of my kingdom. read more.
And she went forth, and said unto her mother, What shall I ask? And she said, The head of John the Baptist. And she came in with haste unto the king and asked, saying, I will that thou give me immediately in a platter the head of John the Baptist. And the king was exceeding sorry, yet for his oath's sake and for the sakes of those who sat with him, he would not reject her. And straightway the king sent an executioner and commanded his head to be brought, and he went and beheaded him in the prison and brought his head in a platter and gave it to the damsel, and the damsel gave it to her mother. And when his disciples heard of it, they came and took up his corpse and laid it in a tomb.
