the chief priests, with the scribes and senators, derided him in like manner. he saved others, said they, but cannot save himself: if he be the king of Israel, let him now come down from the cross, and we will believe him. he relied upon God; if he be such a favourite, let God then deliver him: for he us'd to say he was the son of God. one of the robbers too, who were crucified with him, treated him with the same reproach.
