And he began to speak to them in parables: A man planted a vineyard, and set a hedge about it, and dug a winevat, and built a tower; and let it out to husbandmen, and went abroad. And at the season he sent to the husbandmen a servant, that he might receive from the husbandmen of the fruits of the vineyard. And again he sent to them another servant; and him they wounded in the head, and treated shamefully. And he sent another; and him they killed; and many others, beating some, and killing some. Still he had one beloved son; he sent him last to them, saying, They will respect my son. But those husbandmen said among themselves, This is the heir; come, let us kill him, and the inheritance will be ours. And they took him and killed him, and cast him out of the vineyard.

And at the season he sent a servant to the husbandmen, that they should give him of the fruit of the vineyard; but the husbandmen beat him, and sent him away emptyhanded. And he sent still another servant; and they beat him also, and treated him shamefully, and sent him away emptyhanded. read more.
And he went on to send a third; and they wounded him also, and cast him out. And the lord of the vineyard said, What shall I do? I will send my beloved son; perhaps they will respect him. But when the husbandmen saw him, they reasoned among themselves, saying, This is the heir; let us kill him, that the inheritance may become ours. So they cast him out of the vineyard, and killed him. What then will the lord of the vineyard do to them?

And he said also to the disciples, There was a certain rich man, who had a steward; and the same was accused to him as wasting his goods. And he called him, and said to him, What is this that I hear of thee? Give an account of thy stewardship; for thou canst be no longer steward. Then the steward said within himself, What shall I do, now that my lord taketh away from me the stewardship? I cannot dig, I am ashamed to beg. read more.
I am resolved what to do, that, when I am put out of the stewardship, I may be received into their houses. So he called to him every one of his lords debtors, and said to the first, How much dost thou owe my lord? And he said, A hundred measures of oil. And he said to him, Take thy bond, and sit down quickly, and write fifty. Then he said to another, And how much owest thou? And he said, A hundred measures of wheat. He saith to him, Take thy bond, and write eighty.
