How then can man be just with God? Or how can he who is born of a woman be clean?
Because by the works of the law, no flesh will be justified in his sight. For through the law comes the knowledge of sin.
If you, LORD, kept a record of sins, Lord, who could stand?
Do not enter into judgment with your servant, for in your sight no man living is righteous.
"Truly I know that it is so, but how can man be just with God? If he is pleased to contend with him, he can't answer him one time in a thousand.
but Israel, following after a law of righteousness, did not arrive at that law. Why? Because they did not seek it by faith, but as it were by works. They stumbled over the stumbling stone;
