What I say to you in private, declare ye in public: and what ye hear as in the ear, preach ye as from the house-tops. And be not afraid of them, who can only kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear Him, who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and not one of them shall fall to the ground without the will of your Father: read more.
and even the hairs of your head are all numbered. Therefore be not afraid, ye are of more worth than many sparrows. Whosoever then shall own me before men, I also will own him before my Father, who is in heaven: but whosoever shall disown me before men, him will I also disown before my Father who is in heaven.

These twelve did Jesus send forth, and commanded them, saying, Go not among the gentiles, neither enter into any city of the Samaritans: but go to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand: and in confirmation of your doctrine heal the sick, read more.
cleanse the leprous, raise the dead, cast out demons; and as ye have received freely, freely give. Take not gold, nor silver, nor brass in your purses: take no bag for your journey, nor two coats, nor shoes, nor weapons; for the laborer is worthy of his food. And into whatsoever city or town ye enter, inquire who in it is a worthy person, and there remain till ye leave the place. And when ye come into the house, salute them: and if the family be worthy, let your peace come upon it; but if they be not worthy, your salutation shall return to you. And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hearken to your words; when ye come out of that house or city, shake off the very dust of your feet: for I tell you verily, it shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrha, in the day of judgement, than for that city. Behold I send you forth as sheep into the midst of wolves: be ye therefore prudent as serpents, and innocent as doves. Beware of evil men; for they will deliver you up to their councils, and will scourge you in their synagogues. And ye shall be brought before governors and kings on my account, for a testimony to them and to the nations: but when they take you up, be not sollicitous how, or what ye shall say; for ye shall be taught in that very instant what ye shall speak: for it is not you that speak, but the Spirit of your Father that speaketh by you. Brother shall betray his brother to death, and the father his child: and children shall rise up against their parents, and cause them to be put to death: and ye shall be hated by all men for professing my name; but he that perseveres to the end shall certainly be saved. But when they persecute you in one city, flee into another: for verily I tell you, ye shall not finish your commission through the cities of Israel, before the Son of man shall come. The disciple is not above his master, nor the servant above his lord: it is sufficient sure for the disciple that he be treated as his master, and the servant as his lord. If then they call the master of the house Beelzebub, how much more his domestics? Be not therefore afraid of them; for there is nothing hid, that shall not be revealed; nor secret, that shall not be made known. Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to bring peace but division. For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law: and those of a man's own family shall be his enemies. He that loveth father or mother more than me, is not worthy of me; and he that loveth son or daughter more than me, is not worthy of me: and he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me. He that would save his life shall lose it; and he, that loseth his life for my sake, shall find it. He that receiveth you, receiveth me: and he that receiveth me, receiveth Him that sent me. He that receiveth a prophet as a prophet, shall have a prophet's reward: and he that receiveth a righteous man as such, shall receive a righteous man's reward. And whosoever shall give to one of these mean persons but a cup of cold water to drink, as my disciple, I assure you, he shall not lose his reward.

And whosoever will not receive you, nor hear you, when ye depart thence, shake off the dust under your feet for a testimony against them. After these things the Lord appointed also seventy others, and sent them two and two before Him, into every city and place, whither He himself was about to come. And He said unto them, The harvest indeed is great, but the laborers are few: pray therefore to the Lord of the harvest, that He would send out workmen to his harvest. Go your ways: behold I send you forth as lambs in the midst of wolves. read more.
Carry neither purse, nor bag, nor shoes; and salute no one by the way. But whatever house ye come into, first say, Peace be to this house: and if there be a child of peace there, your peace shall rest upon it: if not, it shall return upon yourselves. But remain in the same house, eating and drinking such as they have; for the laborer is worthy of his hire. Go not from house to house. And into whatsoever city ye enter, and they receive you, eat such things as are set before you; and heal those in it that are sick, and say unto them, The kingdom of God is come unto you. But into whatever city ye come, and they receive you not, go out into the streets of it and say, even the dust that cleaveth to us out of your city we wipe off against you: but know this, that the kingdom of God is come nigh unto you. And I tell you, it shall be more tolerable in that day even for Sodom than for that city. Wo unto thee, Chorazin, wo unto thee, Bethsaida, for if the miracles wrought among you had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would long ago have repented, sitting in sackcloth and ashes. But it shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon in the judgement than for you. And thou Capernaum, which art exalted even to heaven, shalt be cast down to hell. ---He, that heareth you, heareth me; and he, that rejecteth you, rejecteth me; and he, that rejecteth me, rejecteth Him that sent me.

This charge I commit to thee, son Timothy, according to the prophecies which before came on thee, that by them thou mightest war a good warfare, having faith and a good conscience, which some putting away have made shipwreck concerning the faith: of whom is Hymeneus and Alexander, whom I have delivered unto Satan, that they may learn not to blaspheme.

Do not chide a senior, but exhort him as a father; and younger men as brethren: the elder women as mothers, the younger as sisters, with all purity. Honour widows who are widows indeed. read more.
But if any widow have children or grandchildren, let these learn first to shew piety at home, and to make suitable returns to their parents: for this is becoming, and acceptable in the sight of God. Now she, that is really a widow and desolate, hopeth in God, and continueth in supplications and prayers night and day. But she that indulgeth to luxury, is dead while she liveth. These things give in charge, that they may be blameless. But if any provide not for his own, and especially for those of his own family, he hath renounced the faith, and is worse than an infidel. Let not a widow be chosen into the number under sixty years old, having been the wife of one man: in repute for good actions, if she have educated children, if she have entertained strangers, if she have washed the feet of saints, if she have relieved the afflicted, and diligently followed every good work. But the younger widows refuse: for when they grow wanton against Christ, they will needs marry: and are therefore to be condemned, because they violate their first faith. And withal being idle they learn to go about from house to house: and are not only idle, but tatlers also and busy-bodies, talking of things unbecoming them. I would therefore have the younger widows marry, bear children, manage houshold affairs, and give no occasion to the adversary for reproach. For some are already turned aside after Satan. And if any believer have relations widows, let them relieve them, and let not the church be burdened; that it may relieve those that are indeed widows and desolate. Let the elders, who preside well, be counted worthy of double honor, especially those that labour in preaching and teaching. For the scripture saith, "Thou shalt not muzzle the ox that treadeth out the corn:" and, "The workman is worthy of his hire." Receive not an accusation against an elder, unless from two or three witnesses. Those that offend reprove before all, that others also may fear. I charge thee before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, and the elect angels, that thou keep to these things without preference of persons, doing nothing with partiality. Lay hands on no man precipitately, and be not hereby a partaker in the sins of others. Keep thyself pure.

for which cause I remind thee to stir up the gift of God which is in thee through the imposition of my hands. For God hath not given us a spirit of fearfulness, but of vigor, and of love, and of prudence. Be not therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but bear thy part in the afflictions of the gospel, according to the power of God; read more.
who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose, and grace bestowed upon us through Christ Jesus, before the world was, but now made manifest by the appearance of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who hath abolished death, and brought life and immortality to light by the gospel: for which I was appointed an herald, and an apostle, and a teacher of the gentiles: for which cause also I suffer these things; but I am not ashamed: for I know in whom I have trusted, and am persuaded that He is able to keep what I have committed to Him against that day. Hold fast the form of sound words, which thou hast heard from me, in faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.

I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who will judge the living and the dead at his appearing, in his kingdom; preach the word, be instant both in season and out of season; convince, rebuke, exhort with all long-suffering and instruction. For the time will come, when they will not bear sound doctrine; but having itching ears, will heap up to themselves teachers after their own hearts: read more.
and turn away their attention from the truth, and be turned aside to fables. But be thou watchful in all things, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, give full proof of thy ministry. For I am now going to be sacrificed, and the time of my dissolution is near. I have fought the good fight, I have finished my race, I have kept the faith. As to what remains, there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will give me in that day: and not to me only, but also to all those who have longed for his appearance.
