He commanded the crowd to sit down on the ground; and he took the seven loaves and the fish. He gave thanks and broke them, and gave to the disciples, and the disciples to the crowds. They all ate, and were filled. They took up seven baskets full of the broken pieces that were left over. Those who ate were four thousand men, besides women and children. Then he sent away the crowds, got into the boat, and came into the borders of Magadan.

In those days, when there was a great crowd, and they had nothing to eat, he called his disciples to himself, and said to them, "I have compassion on the crowd, because they have stayed with me now three days, and have nothing to eat. If I send them away fasting to their home, they will faint on the way, and some of them have come a long way." read more.

Send the crowds away, that they may go into the villages, and buy themselves food." But he said to them, "They do not need to go away. You give them something to eat." Then he commanded the crowds to sit down on the grass; and he took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to heaven, he blessed, broke and gave the loaves to the disciples, and the disciples gave to the crowds.
