Elijah » Antitype of john the baptist
He will go before God in the spirit and power of Elijah. He will turn the hearts of fathers to their children and wrongdoers to the way of righteousness. This will make ready a people whose hearts have been directed to Jehovah (YHWH). (Malachi 3:1)

After six days Jesus took Peter, James, and John his brother up into a high mountain alone. While they watched, Jesus' appearance changed (transformed) (transfigured) in their presence. Peter told Jesus: Lord, it is good for us to be here. If you want, let us make three tents here: one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah. While he was still speaking, a bright cloud overshadowed them. A voice came out of the cloud, saying: This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. Listen to him. When the disciples heard it, they fell on their faces. They were very afraid. Jesus touched them and told them to get up and not be afraid. They saw only Jesus when they opened their eyes. When they came down from the mountain, Jesus commanded them not to tell anyone what they saw, until the Son of man has risen from the dead. Paul said: John baptized with the baptism of repentance. He told the people they should believe in Jesus, the one who came after John.
This was according to the words of Isaiah the prophet: The voice of one crying in the wilderness. Make ready the way of Jehovah. Make his paths straight. Every valley shall be filled. Every mountain and hill shall be brought low. The crooked shall become straight and the rough ways smooth. All flesh shall see the salvation of God. (Isaiah 40:3-6)

John was clothed in camel's hair with a leather belt about his loins. He ate locusts and wild honey. He told the people: The man who comes after me is greater than I am. I am not worthy to stoop down and untie his shoes. I baptized (immersed) you with water, but he will baptize (Greek: baptizo: immerse, submerge) you with Holy Spirit.

Your child will be called the prophet of the Most High. You will go in advance of Jehovah God to make his ways ready. He came to tell (witness) (testify) about the light and help people have faith. Not being the light he came to give a witness of it.

Before Jesus came John preached the baptism of repentance to all the people of Israel. As John accomplished his purpose he asked: Who do you think I am? I am not that one. One comes after me whose shoes I am not worthy to untie.
