But as to the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and our gathering together unto Him, we beseech you, brethren, that ye be not soon moved from your steadiness of mind, or troubled, neither by Spirit, nor by word, nor by letter, as from us, that the day of Christ is at hand. Let not any one deceive you by any means; for it shall not come till there come an apostasy first, and the man of sin be revealed, read more.
the son of perdition, who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or the object of worship; so that he sits as God in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God. Do ye not remember, that when I was with you, I told you these things? And ye know what now hindereth him from being revealed in his own time. For the mystery of iniquity is already working, only there is one that hindreth till he be taken out of the way. And then the wicked one shall be detected, whom the Lord will destroy by the breath of his mouth, and abolish by the brightness of his coming: who comes, through the efficacy of Satan, with all kind of lying power, and signs, and wonders, and with all iniquitous fraud, among those that shall perish; because they received not the love of the truth, by which they might be saved. And for this cause God will send upon them the efficacy of error, so that they shall themselves believe the lie: that they may all be condemned, who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in iniquity.

And as Jesus went out, and was departing from the temple, his disciples came to observe to Him the magnificent buildings. But Jesus said unto them, Do ye see all these things? Verily I tell you, there shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be demolished. And when He was got to the mount of olives, the disciples came to Him in private and said, Tell us when these things shall be, and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world. read more.
And Jesus answered them, See that no one deceive you: for many shall come in my name saying, I am the Christ, and shall deceive many. And ye shall hear of wars and rumors of wars, but be not troubled; for all these must indeed come to pass, but the end is not yet. For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes in several places: all which are but the beginning of sorrows. Then shall they afflict you, and kill you; and ye shall be hated by all nations for my name: and then will many take offense, and betray one another, and hate one another: and many false prophets will rise up and deceive many: and because iniquity shall abound, the love of many will grow cold. But he that endures to the end, shall be saved: and this gospel of the kingdom of heaven shall be preached in all the world, for a testimony to all the nations; and then shall the end come. When therefore ye shall see the desolating abomination, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing at the holy place, (let him, that readeth, attend) then let those in Judea flee to the mountains: let not him that is at the top of the house come down into it, to take any thing out of his house; nor let him that is in the field return back to take his clothes. But wo to them that are with child, and to them that give suck, in those days. Pray that your flight be not in the winter, nor on the sabbath: for there shall be then great affliction, such as has not been from the beginning of the world unto this time, no, nor ever shall be. And unless those days be shortened, no one would be saved; but for the sake of the elect those days shall be shortened. Then if any shall say to you, Behold here is the Messiah, or there; believe it not: for there shall rise up false Christs, and false prophets, who shall shew great signs and prodigies, so as to deceive, if possible, even the elect. Lo, I have told you before-hand: and therefore if they say to you, Behold, he is in the desert, go not out: behold, he is the secret chambers, believe them not: for as the lightning cometh from the east, and flashes in an instant even to the west, so shall be the coming of the Son of man. For wheresoever the carcase is, there will the eagles be gathered together. And immediately after the affliction of those days, the fun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give it's light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken: and then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven, and then shall all the tribes of the land mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming as on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory: and He will send forth his messengers with a trumpet of a loud voice, and they shall gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other. Now learn a parable from the fig-tree: when it's branch is tender and bringeth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh; so ye also, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near even at the doors. Verily I tell you, this generation shall not pass away, till all these be fulfilled. Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away. But of THAT day and hour knoweth no one, not even the angels of heaven, but my Father only: for as the days of Noah were, so shall be also the coming of the Son of man; for as in the days before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, till the day that Noah entered into the ark, and knew not of it till the deluge came and took them all away; so shall be also the coming of the Son of man. Then there shall be two in the field, the one shall be taken and the other left: and two women grinding at the mill, one taken and one left. Watch therefore, for ye know not at what hour your Lord cometh: but this ye know, that if the master of the house had known at what hour the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broke open: therefore be ye also ready; for the Son of man cometh at a time that ye think not of.

And as He was going out of the temple, one of his disciples saith to Him, Master, behold what fine stones are here, and what stately buildings! But look to yourselves; for they will deliver you up to councils, and synagogues: and ye shall be scourged, and set before governors and kings on my account, for a testimony against them. And the gospel must first be published to all nations. But when they shall lead you to deliver you up, be not anxiously careful beforehand what ye shall speak, neither premeditate: but whatever shall be suggested to you at that very time, this speak: for it is not you that speak, but the holy Spirit. One brother shall betray another to death, and the father the son: and children shall appear against their parents, and cause them to be put to death. And ye shall be hated by all men for my sake: but he that endures to the end shall be saved. But pray that your flight may not be in the winter; for in those days shall be such affliction as never was from the beginning of the world, unto this day, nor ever shall be. But do ye beware: behold, I have told you all before. But in those days, after that affliction, the sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give it's light; and the stars of heaven shall fall, and the powers in the heavens shall be shaken; and then shall they see the Son of man coming in clouds, with great power and glory. And He said, Take heed that ye be not deceived; for many shall come in my name, saying, I am the Christ; and the time is near: but do not therefore go after them. And when ye shall hear of wars and commotions, be not terrified: for these must first happen; but the end will not be directly. Then said He unto them, Nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; and there will be great earthquakes in several places, and famines, and pestilences, and fearful sights and great prodigies from heaven. But before all these things they will lay hands on you, and persecute you, delivering you up to synagogues, and prisons, being brought before kings and rulers for my name's sake: but it shall be for a testimony to you. Fix it therefore in your hearts not to premeditate a defence: for I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries shall not be able to contradict nor withstand. But ye shall be betrayed even by parents, and brethren, and kindred and friends; and some of you shall they cause to be put to death: and ye will be hated by all men for my sake. But not an hair of your head shall perish. In your patience therefore possess your souls. And when ye shall see Jerusalem surrounded with armies, then know that the desolation thereof is nigh: then let them that are in Judea flee to the mountains, and those that are in the midst of it, depart; and let not them that are in the countries enter into it. For these are days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled. But wo to them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days; for there shall be great distress in the land, and wrath upon this people, and they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and be led captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trampled down by the Gentiles, till the times of the Gentiles too shall be fulfilled. And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and on the earth distress of nations in perplexity, the sea and the waves roring: and men ready to die for fear and apprehension of the things that are coming upon the land; for the powers of heaven shall be shaken. And then shall they see the Son of man coming, as on a cloud, with power and great glory. But when these things begin to come to pass, look upwards and lift up your heads, for your redemption draweth nigh. And He spake a parable to them, Behold the fig-tree, and all the trees, when they shoot out, ye see and know of yourselves that summer is now near: so likewise know ye, when ye see these things coming to pass, that the kingdom of God is at hand. Verily I tell you, this generation shall not pass away till all be accomplished. Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away. Take heed to yourselves, least at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting and drunkenness, and the cares of life, and so that day should come upon you unawares: for as a snare shall it come upon all that dwell on the face of the whole earth. Watch therefore and be constant in prayer, that ye may be counted worthy to escape all these things, which shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.

And to the angel of the church in Sardis write, These things saith He that hath the seven spirits of God, and the seven stars; I know thy works, that thou hast a name that thou livest, and art dead: be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die; for I have not found thy works perfect in the sight of God. Remember therefore how thou hast received and heard, and hold fast, and repent: for if thou be not watchful, I will come upon thee as a thief, and thou shalt not know at what hour I will come upon thee.

Watch therefore, for ye know not at what hour your Lord cometh: but this ye know, that if the master of the house had known at what hour the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broke open: therefore be ye also ready; for the Son of man cometh at a time that ye think not of. read more.
Who then is the faithful and prudent servant, whom his lord hath set over his family to give them food in due season? blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so employed: verily I tell you, that he will set him over his whole estate. But if that servant be wicked and say in his heart, my master delayeth his coming, and begin to beat his fellow-servants, and to revel with drunkards: the lord of that servant will come in a day when he doth not expect him, and in an hour which he knows not, and will cut him asunder, and appoint him his portion with hypocrites: where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

therefore be ye also ready; for the Son of man cometh at a season that ye think not of.

for as the days of Noah were, so shall be also the coming of the Son of man; for as in the days before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, till the day that Noah entered into the ark, and knew not of it till the deluge came and took them all away; so shall be also the coming of the Son of man. read more.

And as it was in the days of Noah, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man. They were eating, drinking, marrying, and being married, till the day that Noah went into the ark: and the flood came and destroyed them all. And as it was likewise in the days of Lot; they were eating, drinking, buying, selling, planting, and building: read more.
but the very day that Lot went out from Sodom, it rained fire and brimstone from heaven and destroyed them all. Thus shall it be in the day that the Son of man is revealed. In that day, whoever shall be on the house-top, and his goods in the house, let him not come down into it to take them away: and he that is in the field, let him likewise not return back. Remember Lot's wife. Whosoever shall seek to save his life, shall lose it; and whosoever will venture his life, shall preserve it. In that night there shall be two in one bed; the one shall be taken and the other left: two women shall be grinding together; the one shall be taken and the other left: two men shall be in the field; the one shall be taken and the other left. And they answered and said unto Him, Where, Lord? And He said to them, where the carcase is, there will the eagles be gathered together.

Let your loins be girt, and your lights burning, and ye yourselves like men waiting for their lord's return from a wedding, that they may immediately open the door to him, when he comes and knocks. Happy are those servants, whom the master when he cometh shall find watching: verily I say unto you, that he will gird himself, and make them sit down, and will come and serve them. read more.
And if he come in the second watch, or in the third watch, and find them so, happy indeed are those servants. And this ye know, that if the master of a house had known at what hour the thief would come, he would have watched, and not have suffered his house to be broke open: therefore be ye also ready; for the Son of man cometh at a season that ye think not of.

He said therefore, A certain nobleman went into a distant country to receive the investiture of a kingdom and then to return. And he called ten of his servants, and delivered to them ten pounds, and said, Trade with them till I come. But his citizens hated him, and sent an embassy after him, saying, We will not have this man to reign over us. read more.
And when he was returned, having received the kingdom, he ordered these servants to be called to him, to whom he had delivered the money, that he might know what use each had made of it. Then came the first and said, Lord, thy pound hath gained ten pounds. And he said to him, Well done, thou good servant, as thou hast been faithful in a very little, thou shalt be governor over ten cities. And the second came, saying, Lord, thy pound hath produced five pounds: and he said to this likewise, Be thou also over five cities.

And the second came, saying, Lord, thy pound hath produced five pounds: and he said to this likewise, Be thou also over five cities. And another came, and said, Behold, my Lord, thy pound, which I have kept laid up in a napkin: for I was afraid of thee, because thou art an austere man, who takest up what thou didst not lay down, and reapest what thou didst not sow. But he said to him, Out of thy own mouth will I judge thee, thou wicked servant, Thou knewest that I am an austere man, taking up what I laid not down, and reaping what I did not sow; and why then didst thou not put my money into the bank, that when I came I might have received it with interest? And he said to them that stood by, Take away the pound from him, and give it to him that hath the ten pounds. (And they said unto him, Lord, he hath ten pounds already:) for I tell you, that to every one that hath shall be given; but from him that hath not, even what he seemingly hath shall be taken away. But those mine enemies, who would not have me to reign over them, bring hither, and slay them before me.

Watch therefore, for ye know not the day, nor the season in which the Son of man cometh.

Watch ye therefore; for ye know not when the master of the house cometh: (in the evening, or at midnight, or at the cock-crowing, or in the morning:) least coming on a sudden he should find you sleeping.
