When He broke the sixth seal, I looked, and there was a great earthquake, and the sun turned black as sackcloth, and the full moon became like blood, and the stars of the sky fell to the earth, just as a fig tree, when shaken by a violent wind, drops its unripe figs. The sky was swept away just like a scroll that is rolled up; and every mountain and island was moved out of its place.

Then another angel with a censer of gold came and stood at the altar, and a great quantity of incense was given to him to mingle with the prayers of all God's people, on the altar of gold that stood before the throne. So the smoke of the incense went up from the angel's hand to the presence of God for the prayers of His people. And the seven angels with the seven trumpets prepared to blow them. The first one blew his trumpet, and there was a shower of hail and fire mixed with blood as it hurled itself upon the earth, and one-third of the earth was burned up, and all the green grass was burned up. Then the second angel blew his trumpet, and what seemed to be a great mountain, all ablaze with fire, hurled itself into the sea, and one-third of the sea was turned into blood, and one-third of all the living creatures in the sea perished, and one-third of the ships were destroyed. In my vision the horses and the horsemen looked like this: Their breastplates were red, blue, and yellow; the horses' heads were like lions' heads, and fire, smoke, and sulphur kept pouring out of their mouths. For the power of the horses lay in their mouths and their tails; their tails were like snakes, and they had heads with which they injured people.

Then I saw another mighty angel coming down from heaven. He was clothed in a cloud, with a rainbow over his head; his face was like the sun, his legs were like pillars of fire, and he had a little book open in his hand.
