The foundation of the Temple was laid in the second month, the month of Ziv, in the fourth year of Solomon's reign.

Solomon began work on the Temple. It was four hundred and eighty years after the people of Israel left Egypt, during the fourth year of Solomon's reign over Israel, in the second month, the month of Ziv.

Should you or any of your descendants be unclean from touching a dead body or away on a long trip. You may still celebrate the Passover. You will celebrate it on the fourteenth day of the second month at dusk. Eat the Passover animal along with unleavened bread and bitter herbs.


There were some men who had become unclean from touching a dead body. They could not celebrate the Passover that day. They went to Moses and Aaron. They said: We are unclean because we touched a dead body. Why are we prevented from making our offerings to Jehovah at the same time the rest of the Israelites bring their offerings? Jehovah said to Moses, Tell the Israelites: Should you or any of your descendants be unclean from touching a dead body or away on a long trip. You may still celebrate the Passover. You will celebrate it on the fourteenth day of the second month at dusk. Eat the Passover animal along with unleavened bread and bitter herbs. Never leave any of the meat until morning or break any of the animal's bones. Follow all the rules for the Passover when you celebrate it.

The king, his officials, and the whole assembly in Jerusalem decided to celebrate the Passover in the second month. They could not celebrate it at the regular time because not enough priests had performed the ceremonies to make themselves holy and the people had not gathered in Jerusalem. The king and the entire assembly considered their plan to be the right thing to do.


If you touch anything unclean such as an unclean dead body of a wild or tame animal or the body of an unclean, swarming creature and then ignore what you did, you are unclean and will be guilty.

Any priest who becomes unclean remains unclean until evening. Even then he may not eat any of the sacred offerings until he has taken a bath.

Regarding the creatures mentioned above, this is how you would become unclean: When you touch their dead bodies you will be unclean until evening. When you carry any part of their dead bodies you must wash your clothes. You will be unclean until evening. None of the descendants of Aaron who has a dreaded skin disease or a discharge may eat any of the sacred offerings until he is ritually clean. Any priest is unclean if he touches anything that is unclean through contact with a corpse or if he has an emission of semen

Everyone who killed a person or touched a dead body must stay outside the camp seven days. You and your prisoners of war must use the ritual water on the third and seventh days in order to take away your sin.

If a man commits a sin worthy of death and he is put to death. You hang him on a tree (stake). His corpse must not hang all night on the tree (stake). Be sure to bury him the same day for he who is hanged is accursed of God. You do this so that you do not defile your land Jehovah your God gives you as an inheritance.

Those who touch a corpse are ritually unclean for seven days. They must purify themselves with the water for purification on the third day and on the seventh day. Then they will be clean. But if they do not purify themselves on both the third and the seventh day, they will not be clean. Those who touch a corpse and do not purify themselves remain unclean. This is because the water for purification has not been thrown over them. They defile Jehovah's tent, and they will no longer be considered God's people. read more.
Here are your instructions for when a person dies in a tent: Everyone who goes into the tent and everyone who is in the tent will be unclean for seven days. Every container without a lid fastened on it is unclean. Whoever is outdoors and touches someone who was killed or has died naturally or anyone who touches a human bone or a grave will be unclean for seven days.

Moses called Mishael and Elzaphan, the sons of Uzziel, Aaron's uncle. He said: Come here and carry your cousins' bodies away from the sacred tent and put them outside the camp. So they came and took hold of the clothing on the corpses. They carried them outside the camp just as Moses had commanded.

Of all the swarming creatures that move on the ground, these are unclean for you. He who touches their dead bodies will be unclean until evening. When the dead body of one of these creatures falls on something, that thing will be unclean. It may be a wooden article, clothing, leather, a sack, or anything used for any purpose. It should be put in water and will be unclean until evening. It will then be clean again. If any of these creatures falls into a piece of pottery, break the pottery because everything in it is unclean. read more.
If water from that pottery touches any food, the food is unclean. Any liquid that you drink from that pottery is unclean. Anything on which their dead bodies fall is unclean. If it is an oven or a stove, smash it. It is unclean and will remain unclean for you. A spring or a cistern holding water will remain clean. But anyone who touches their dead bodies will be unclean. If their dead bodies fall on seed that is to be planted, the seed is clean. If water is poured on the seed and their dead bodies fall on it, the seed is unclean for you. When any animal that you are allowed to eat dies, whoever touches its dead body will be unclean until evening. Those who eat any of its dead body must wash their clothes. They will be unclean until evening. Those who carry its dead body away will wash their clothes and will be unclean until evening.

So Moses brought their case to Jehovah. Jehovah said to him: Zelophehad's daughters are right. You must give them property of their own among their father's relatives. Turn their father's property over to them. read more.
Tell the Israelites: 'If a man dies and leaves no sons, turn his property over to his daughters. If he has no daughters give his property to his brothers. If he has no brothers give his property to his uncles on his father's side of the family. If he has no uncles, give his property to the nearest relative in his family. That relative will take possession of it. This will be a rule for the Israelites, as Jehovah commanded Moses.'
