This will turn into an opportunity for you to bear testimony. Therefore settle it in your minds not to meditate beforehand how you will answer; for I will give you a mouth and wisdom which none of your adversaries will be able to resist or contradict. You will be betrayed even by parents and brothers, relatives and friends; and they will put some of you to death. You will be hated by all for my name's sake. But not a hair of your head will perish.

And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of Man be lifted up, that whoever believes in him may have eternal life. For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.

For the word of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. Jews demand signs and Greeks look for wisdom, but we preach Christ crucified, to Jews a stumbling block and to Gentiles foolishness, but to those who are the called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. For the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men.
