We did not follow cunningly devised fables when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. We were eyewitnesses of his majesty. He received honor and glory from God the Father when he heard the voice from the Majestic Glory: This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. We heard this voice from out of heaven when we were with him on the holy mountain.
After six days Jesus took Peter, James, and John his brother up into a high mountain alone. While they watched, Jesus' appearance changed (transformed) (transfigured) in their presence. He went away to pray a third time, saying the same words. After returning to the disciples, he said: Do you sleep now and take your rest? The hour is here and the Son of man is betrayed into the hands of sinners. Arise, let us go; the man who betrays me is here.
