When Jesus went into Peter's house, he saw Peter's mother-in-law lying in bed, sick with a fever.

After they left the synagogue, they went directly to the house of Simon and Andrew, along with James and John.

Andrew, Simon Peter's brother, was one of the two who heard John and followed Jesus. The first thing Andrew did was to find his brother Simon and say to him, "We have found the Anointed One!" (which is translated "Messiah"). He led Simon to Jesus. Jesus looked at him intently and said, "You are Simon, John's son. You will be called Cephas!" (which is translated "Peter").

So Jesus told him, "In that case, the subjects are exempt. However, so that we don't offend them, go to the sea and throw in a hook. Take the first fish that comes up, open its mouth, and you will find a coin. Take it and give it to them for me and you."

When he had finished speaking, he told Simon, "Push out into deep water, and lower your nets for a catch." Simon answered, "Master, we have worked hard all night and caught nothing. But if you say so, I'll lower the nets." After the men had done this, they caught so many fish that the nets began to tear. read more.

Simon Peter answered him, "Lord, to whom would we go? You have the words of eternal life.

Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him, saying, "God be merciful to you, Lord! This must never happen to you!"

He was speaking about this matter quite openly.

Peter told him, "Even if I have to die with you, I will never deny you!" And all the disciples said the same thing.

But Peter kept saying emphatically, "Even if I have to die with you, I'll never deny you!" And all the others kept saying the same thing.

Peter told him, "Lord, I am ready to go even to prison and to die with you!"

"Lord, why can't I follow you now?" Peter asked him. "I would lay down my life for you!"

Then he came to Simon Peter, who asked him, "Lord, are you going to wash my feet?" Jesus answered him, "You don't realize now what I'm doing, but later on you'll understand." Peter told him, "You must never wash my feet!" Jesus answered him, "Unless I wash you, you cannot be involved with me."

Then Simon Peter, who had a sword, drew it and struck the high priest's servant, cutting off his right ear. The servant's name was Malchus.

Then Jesus told him, "How blessed you are, Simon son of Jonah, since flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, though my Father in heaven has. I tell you that you are Peter, and it is on this rock that I will build my congregation, and the powers of hell will not conquer it. I will give you the keys to the kingdom from heaven. Whatever you prohibit on earth will have been prohibited in heaven, and whatever you permit on earth will have been permitted in heaven."

But Jesus turned and told Peter, "Get behind me, Satan! You are an offense to me, because you are not thinking God's thoughts but human thoughts!"

Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him. But turning and looking at his disciples, Jesus rebuked Peter, saying, "Get behind me, Satan, because you're not thinking God's thoughts, but human thoughts!"

Jesus told him, "I tell you with certainty, before a rooster crows this very night, you will deny me three times."

Jesus told him, "I tell you with certainty, today, this very night, before a rooster crows twice, you'll deny me three times."

But Jesus said, "I tell you, Peter, the rooster will not crow today until you deny three times that you know me."

Jesus answered him, "Would you lay down your life for me? I tell you emphatically, a rooster will not crow until you have denied me three times."

When he went back to the disciples, he found them asleep. He told Peter, "So, you men couldn't stay awake with me for one hour, could you? All of you must stay awake and pray that you won't be tempted. The spirit is indeed willing, but the body is weak."

He was the one who had put his head on Jesus' chest at the supper and had asked, "Lord, who is the one who is going to betray you?" When Peter saw him, he said, "Lord, what about him?" Jesus told him, "If it's my will for him to remain until I come back, how does that concern you? You must keep following me!"

Now Peter was sitting outside in the courtyard when a servant girl came up to him and said, "You, too, were with Jesus the Galilean." But he denied it in front of them all. "I don't know what you're talking about!" he exclaimed. As he went out to the gateway, another woman saw him and told those who were there, "This man was with Jesus from Nazareth."read more.
Again he denied it and swore with an oath, "I don't know the man!" After a little while, the people who were standing there came up and told Peter, "Obviously you're also one of them, because your accent gives you away." Then he began to curse violently. "I don't know the man!" he swore solemnly. Just then a rooster crowed.

While Peter was down in the courtyard, one of the high priest's servant girls came by. When she saw Peter warming himself, she glared at him and said, "You, too, were with Jesus from Nazareth." But he denied it, saying, "I don't know or even understand what you're talking about!" Then he went out into the entryway. Just then a rooster crowed.read more.
The servant girl saw him and again told those who were standing around, "This man is one of them!" Again he denied it. After a little while, the people who were standing there began to say to Peter again, "Obviously you're one of them, because you are a Galilean!" Then he began to invoke a divine curse and to swear with an oath, "I don't know this man you're talking about!"

Then they arrested him, led him away, and brought him to the high priest's house. But Peter was following at a distance. When they had kindled a fire in the middle of the courtyard and had taken their seats, Peter, too, sat down among them. A servant girl saw him sitting by the fire, stared at him, and said, "This man was with him, too."read more.
But he denied it, "I don't know him, woman!" he responded. A little later, a man looked at him and said, "You are one of them, too." But Peter said, "Mister, I am not!" About an hour later, another man emphatically asserted, "This man was certainly with him, because he is a Galilean!" But Peter said, "Mister, I don't know what you're talking about!" Just then, while he was still speaking, a rooster crowed.

Simon Peter and another disciple were following Jesus. Since the other disciple was known to the high priest, he accompanied Jesus into the courtyard of the high priest. Peter, however, stood outside the gate. So this other disciple who was known to the high priest went out and spoke to the gatekeeper and brought Peter inside. The young woman at the gate asked Peter, "You aren't one of this man's disciples, too, are you?" "I am not," he replied.read more.
Meanwhile, the servants and officers were standing around a charcoal fire they had built and were warming themselves because it was cold. Peter was also standing with them, keeping himself warm.

Then one of the high priest's servants, a relative of the man whose ear Peter had cut off, said, "I saw you in the garden with Jesus, didn't I?" Peter remembered the words of Jesus when he said, "Before a rooster crows, you'll deny me three times." Then he went outside and cried bitterly.

Just then a rooster crowed a second time. Peter remembered that Jesus told him, "Before a rooster crows twice, you will deny me three times." Then he broke down and cried.

Then the Lord turned and looked straight at Peter. And Peter remembered the word from the Lord, and how he had told him, "Before a rooster crows today, you will deny me three times." So he went outside and cried bitterly.

They got up right away, went back to Jerusalem, and found the eleven disciples and their companions all together. They kept saying, "The Lord has really risen and has appeared to Simon!"

he was buried, he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures and is still alive! and he was seen by Cephas, and then by the Twelve.

When they had finished breakfast, Jesus asked Simon Peter, "Simon, son of John, do you love me more than these?" Peter told him, "Yes, Lord, you know that I love you." Jesus told him, "Feed my lambs." Then he asked him a second time, "Simon, son of John, do you love me?" Peter told him, "Yes, Lord, you know that I love you." Jesus told him, "Take care of my sheep." He asked him a third time, "Simon, son of John, do you love me?" Peter was deeply hurt that he had asked him a third time, "Do you love me?" So he told him, "Lord, you know everything. You know that I love you!"
