For, not as having followed after cunningly-devised stories, did we make known to you the power and presence of our Lord Jesus Christ, but as having been made spectators of His majesty. For He received from God the Father honor and glory, when such a voice was borne to Him from the Excellent Glory, "This is My Son, the Beloved, in Whom I took delight"; and this voice we heard borne from Heaven, when we were with Him in the holy mount.

And, after six days, Jesus taketh with Him Peter, and James, and John his brother, and bringeth them up into a high mountain apart; and He was transfigured before them; and His face shone as the sun, and His garments became white as the light. And Peter, answering, said to Jesus," Lord, it is good that we are here. If Thou wilt, I will make here three tents??ne for Thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elijah."

And His garments became shining, exceedingly white, such as no fuller on the earth can so whiten. And there appeared to them Elijah with Moses; and they were talking with Jesus. read more.
And Peter, answering, says to Jesus, "Rabbi, it is good that we are here; and let us make three tents; one for Thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elijah;" for he knew not what to answer, for they became much afraid.

And it came to pass, about eight days after these words, that, taking Peter, and John, and James, He went up into the mountain to pray. And it came to pass, as He was praying, that the appearance of His countenance was altered, and His raiment became white and dazzling. Now Peter and those with him had become heavy with sleep; but, having watched through it, they saw His glory, and the two men who were standing with Him. And it came to pass, as they were parting from Him, that Peter said to Jesus, "Master, it is good that we are here; and let us make three tents; one for Thee, one for Moses, and one for Elijah;" not knowing what he was saying.

Then cometh Jesus with them into a place called Gethsemane, and saith to the disciples, "Sit ye here, while I, going yonder, pray." And, taking with Him Peter, and the two sons of Zebedee, He began to be grieved and to be in distress. Then saith He to them, "My soul is exceedingly sorrowful even unto death! Abide ye here, and watch with Me." read more.
And, going forward a little, He fell on His face, praying, and saying, "My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass away from Me: nevertheless not as I will, but as Thou wilt." And He cometh to the disciples, and findeth them sleeping, and saith to Peter, "Were ye thus unable to watch with Me one hour? Watch, and pray, that ye enter not into temptation. The spirit, indeed, is willing, but the flesh is weak." Again, a second time, going away, He prayed, saying, "My Father, if it is not possible that this cup should pass away except I drink it, Thy will be done," And, coming again, He found them sleeping; for their eyes were heavy. And, leaving them, going away again, He prayed a third time, saying again the same words. Then He cometh to the disciples, and saith to them, "Sleep on the remaining time, and take your rest. Behold the hour has drawn near, and the Son of Man is betrayed into the hands of sinners. Arise, let us be going. Behold, he who is betraying Me is at hand."

And He taketh with Him Peter and James and John, and began to be greatly amazed, and to be in distress. And He saith to them, "My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, unto death! Abide here, and watch." And going forward a little, He fell on the ground, and was praying, that, if it were possible, the hour might pass away from Him. read more.
And He said, "Abba, Father, all things are possible to Thee; take away this cup from Me; yet not what I will, but what Thou wilt." And He cometh and findeth them sleeping, and saith to Peter, "Simon, are you sleeping? were you not able to watch one hour? Watch, and pray, that ye enter not into temptation. The spirit, indeed, is willing, but the flesh is weak." And, going away again, He prayed, saying the same thing. And, returning, He found them again sleeping, for their eyes were very heavy; and they knew not what to answer Him. And He cometh the third time, and saith to them, "Sleep on the remaining time, and take your rest. It is enough; the hour came; behold, the Son of Man is betrayed into the hands of sinners. Arise, let us be going. Behold, he that is betraying Me has come near."

and, having come to the place, He said to them, "Pray, that ye enter not into temptation." And He was parted from them about a stone's throw; and, kneeling down, He prayed, saying, "Father, if Thou art willing, remove this cup from Me; nevertheless, not My will, but Thine, be done." read more.
And there appeared to Him an angel from Heaven, strengthening Him. And, being in an agony, He was praying more earnestly. And His sweat became, as it were, large drops of blood falling down upon the ground! And, arising from prayer, and coming to the disciples, He found them sleeping for grief, and said to them, "Why are ye sleeping? Rising up, pray, that ye enter not into temptation."
