And one of them, Caiaphas, being the high priest that year, said to them, Ye know nothing, Nor consider, it is expedient for us, that one man should die for the people, and that the whole nation perish not. He spake not this of himself, but being high-priest that year, he prophesied, that Jesus should die for the nation:
Caiaphas was he who had counselled the Jews, that it was expedient one man should die for the people.
