Babylon has been a golden cup in Jehovah's hand, which made all the earth drunk. The nations have drunk of her wine; therefore the nations rage. Babylon is suddenly fallen and destroyed. Wail for her; take balm for her pain, if perhaps she may be healed. We would have healed Babylon, but she is not healed. Forsake her and let us go, each one into his own country; for her judgment reaches to the heavens and is lifted up to the skies.

Though a sinner does evil a hundred times, and his days be made longer, yet surely I know that it shall be well with those who fear God, who fear before Him. But it shall not be well with the wicked, nor shall he make his days longer like a shadow; because he does not fear before God.

I have seen the wicked ruthless, and spreading himself like a luxuriant native tree. Yet he passed away, and, lo, he was not; and I looked for him, but he could not be found.

For he sees wise men die; likewise the fool and the animal-like ones perish, and leave their wealth to others. Their inward thought is that their houses shall go on forever, and their dwelling-places to all generations; they call their lands after their own names. They are fully eaten up with terrors, like a dream when one awakens; so, O Jehovah, when You awake, You shall despise their image. For my heart was grieved and I was pricked in my reins. So foolish was I, and I did not know; I was like a beast before You.

A beastly man does not know; nor does a fool understand this. When the wicked spring as the grass, and when all the workers of iniquity blossom, it is that they shall be destroyed forever;

Righteous are You, O Jehovah, that I might contend with You; yet let me speak with You about Your judgments. Why does the way of the wicked prosper? Why are all those happy who deal treacherously? You have planted them; yea, they take root. They grow, yea, they make fruit. You are near in their mouth and far from their reins.

You are of purer eyes than to behold evil, and can not look upon vexation. Why do You look upon those who deal deceitfully? Will you be silent when the wicked swallows one more righteous than he?
