I am absolutely terrified, and you, Lord -- how long will this continue?

For the music director; a psalm of David. How long, Lord, will you continue to ignore me? How long will you pay no attention to me?

O Lord, how long are you going to just stand there and watch this? Rescue me from their destructive attacks; guard my life from the young lions!

How long will this go on, O Lord? Will you stay angry forever? How long will your rage burn like fire?

O Lord God, invincible warrior! How long will you remain angry at your people while they pray to you?

How long, O Lord, will this last? Will you remain hidden forever? Will your anger continue to burn like fire?

Turn back toward us, O Lord! How long must this suffering last? Have pity on your servants!

O Lord, how long will the wicked, how long will the wicked celebrate?

How long, Lord, must I cry for help? But you do not listen! I call out to you, "Violence!" But you do not intervene!

The angel of the Lord then asked, "Lord who rules over all, how long before you have compassion on Jerusalem and the other cities of Judah which you have been so angry with for these seventy years?"


How long will this go on, O Lord? Will you stay angry forever? How long will your rage burn like fire?

O Lord God, invincible warrior! How long will you remain angry at your people while they pray to you?


Lord, I have heard the report of what you did; I am awed, Lord, by what you accomplished. In our time repeat those deeds; in our time reveal them again. But when you cause turmoil, remember to show us mercy!

O Lord, according to all your justice, please turn your raging anger away from your city Jerusalem, your holy mountain. For due to our sins and the iniquities of our ancestors, Jerusalem and your people are mocked by all our neighbors.

We have become an object of disdain to our neighbors; those who live on our borders taunt and insult us. How long will this go on, O Lord? Will you stay angry forever? How long will your rage burn like fire? Pour out your anger on the nations that do not acknowledge you, on the kingdoms that do not pray to you! For they have devoured Jacob and destroyed his home.

"'You have shown unrelenting hostility and poured the people of Israel onto the blades of a sword at the time of their calamity, at the time of their final punishment. Therefore, as surely as I live, declares the sovereign Lord, I will subject you to bloodshed, and bloodshed will pursue you. Since you did not hate bloodshed, bloodshed will pursue you.
