Psalm 83:1 (show verse)
O God, do not rest [silently]. Do not keep silent or be still, O God.
Psalm 83:2 (show verse)
For look, your enemies roar, and those who hate you have lifted [their] head.
Psalm 83:3 (show verse)
They devise cunning schemes against your people, and consult together against your protected ones.
Psalm 83:4 (show verse)
They say, "Come, let us annihilate them from [being] a nation, so that the name of Israel will be remembered no more."
Psalm 83:5 (show verse)
For they have consulted together {with a unified purpose}. They have made a covenant against you:
Psalm 83:6 (show verse)
the tents of Edom and [the] Ishmaelites, Moab and [the] Hagrites,
Psalm 83:7 (show verse)
Gebal and Ammon and Amalek, Philistia, with the inhabitants of Tyre.
Psalm 83:8 (show verse)
Assyria also has joined with them. They {provide help} to the children of Lot. Selah
Psalm 83:9 (show verse)
Do to them as [you did with] Midian, as [with] Sisera, as [with] Jabin at the wadi of Kishon.
Psalm 83:10 (show verse)
They were destroyed at En-dor; they became dung for the ground.
Psalm 83:11 (show verse)
Make their leaders like Oreb and Zeeb, and all their chiefs like Zebah and Zalmunna,
Psalm 83:12 (show verse)
who said, "Let us take [as] our possession the pastures of God."
Psalm 83:13 (show verse)
O my God, make them like the tumbleweed, like the chaff before wind.
Psalm 83:14 (show verse)
As fire burns a forest, and as a flame sets afire mountains,
Psalm 83:15 (show verse)
so pursue them with your tempest and terrify them with your storm.
Psalm 83:16 (show verse)
Fill their faces with shame, that they may seek your name, O Yahweh.
Psalm 83:17 (show verse)
Let them be ashamed and terrified forever, and let them be humiliated and perish
Psalm 83:18 (show verse)
that they may know that you, [whose] name [is] Yahweh, you alone, [are the] Most High over the whole earth.
