You must submit to discipline. God is dealing with you as His sons. For who is the son that his father never disciplines? Now if you are without any discipline, in which all true sons share, you are only illegitimate children and not true sons. Furthermore, we had earthly fathers who disciplined us, and we used to treat them with respect; how much more cheerfully should we submit to the Father of our spirits, and live! read more.
For they disciplined us only a short time, as it seemed proper to them, but He does it for our good, in order that we may share His holy character.

Who among you is wise and intelligent? Let him show by his noble living that his good deeds are done in humility, which wisdom prompts. But if you cherish bitter jealousy and rivalry in your hearts, stop being proud of it and stop being false to the standard of truth. This is not the kind of wisdom that comes down from above; no, it is earthly, human, demoniacal. read more.
For wherever jealousy and rivalry exist, there will be confusion and all sorts of evil practices.

For the message of the cross is nonsense to those who are in the process of being destroyed, but it is the power of God to those who are in the process of being saved. For the Scripture says: "I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and I will set aside the learning of the learned." So where is your philosopher? Where is your man of letters? Where is your logician of this age? Has not God shown up the nonsense of the world's wisdom?

Let no one deceive himself. If any one of you supposes that he is wise in this world's wisdom, as compared with the rest of you, to become really wise he must become a fool. For this world's wisdom is mere nonsense to God. For the Scripture says, "He who catches the wise with their own cunning," and again, "The Lord knows that the arguings of the wise are useless." read more.
So let no one boast in men. For everything belongs to you -- (46:21) Paul, Apollos, Cephas, the world, life, death, the present, the future -- they all belong to you. Yes, you belong to Christ, and Christ belongs to God.
