'None of the men that came out of Egypt, from twenty years old and above, shall see the land which I swore unto Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, because they have not continually followed me: save Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite, and Joshua the son of Nun, for they have followed me continually.' And the LORD was angry with Israel, and made them wander in the wilderness forty years, until all the generation that had done evil in the sight of the LORD were consumed.
And the LORD spake unto Moses and Aaron, saying,
'There shall not one of these men of this froward generation see that good land which I sware to give unto your fathers, save Caleb the son of Jephunneh; he shall see it, and to him I will give the land which he hath walked in and to his children, because he hath continually followed the LORD.'
But as for you, turn back and take your journey into the wilderness: even the way to the reed sea.'
