And one of the synagogue rulers came, Jairus by name, and seeing him, fell at his feet, and besought him much, saying, My little daughter is at the point of death; come and lay hands on her, that she may be restored, and she shall live. And he went away with him; and a great multitude followed him, and thronged him.

And they were astonished with great astonishment. And he charged them strictly that no one should know it, and directed that food should be given her.

And behold, a man by the name of Jairus came; and he was the ruler of a synagogue. And falling at the feet of Jesus, he besought him to come to his house, for he had an only daughter twelve years old, and she was dying. And when he was going, the multitudes thronged him.
