Receiving » Who receives
These things have I written to you, that ye may know that ye who believe in the name of the Son of God have everlasting life. And this is the confidence which we have toward him, that, if we ask anything according to his will, he heareth us; and if we know that he heareth us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests which we have asked of him.
Jesus answering said to them, Truly do I say to you, If ye have faith, and do not doubt, not only shall ye do what hath been done to the figtree, but should ye even say to this mountain, Be thou taken up and cast into the sea, it would be done. Marvel not at this; for the hour is coming, in which all that are in the tombs will hear his voice, and will come forth, they that have done good, to a resurrection of life; they that have done evil, to a resurrection of condemnation. I can of myself do nothing. As I hear, I judge; and my judgment is just, because I seek not my own will, but the will of him that sent me. If I bear witness of myself, my witness is not true. But the testimony which I receive is not from man; but these things I say, that ye may be saved. He was the burning and shining lamp: and ye were willing for a season to rejoice in his light. But the testimony which I have, is greater than that of John; for the works which the Father hath given me to perform, the works themselves which I do, bear witness of me, that the Father hath sent me. And the Father who sent me, he hath borne witness of me. Ye have neither heard his voice at any time, nor seen his form. And ye have not his word abiding in you; for whom he sent, him ye believe not. Ye search the Scriptures, because ye yourselves think that in them ye have everlasting life; and it is they which testify of me; and ye are not willing to come to me, that ye may have life. I receive not honor from men; but I know you, that ye have not the love of God in you. I have come in my Fathers name, and ye receive me not; if another come in his own name, him ye will receive.
