An abundance of food is in poor people's fields, but injustice sweeps it away.

One who works his land will have an abundance of food; but one who chases fantasies will have his fill of poverty.

For the land which has drunk the rain that comes often on it, and brings forth a crop suitable for them for whose sake it is also tilled, receives blessing from God;


In the morning sow your seed, and in the evening don't withhold your hand; for you don't know which will prosper, whether this or that, or whether they both will be equally good.

Know well the state of your flocks, and pay attention to your herds: for riches are not forever, nor does even the crown endure to all generations. The hay is removed, and the new growth appears, the grasses of the hills are gathered in. read more.
The lambs are for your clothing, and the goats are the price of a field. There will be plenty of goats' milk for your food, for your family's food, and for the nourishment of your servant girls.




For his God instructs him in right judgment, and teaches him.







A wise man scales the city of the mighty, and brings down the strength of its confidence.

There was a little city, and few men within it; and a great king came against it, besieged it, and built great bulwarks against it. Now a poor wise man was found in it, and he by his wisdom delivered the city; yet no man remembered that same poor man. Then I said, "Wisdom is better than strength." Nevertheless the poor man's wisdom is despised, and his words are not heard. read more.
The words of the wise heard in quiet are better than the cry of him who rules among fools. Wisdom is better than weapons of war; but one sinner destroys much good.

Or what king, as he goes to encounter another king in war, will not sit down first and consider whether he is able with ten thousand to meet him who comes against him with twenty thousand? Or else, while the other is yet a great way off, he sends an envoy, and asks for conditions of peace.
