He said: You are blessed of Jehovah, my daughter: for this kindness is greater than what you showed earlier. You have not pursued younger men, whether poor or rich. And now, my daughter, have no fear. I will do for you whatever you say, for it is clear to all my townspeople that you are a woman of virtue.

She went down to the floor, and did according to all that her mother-in-law told her. After Boaz ate and drank, and his heart was merry, he went to lie down at the end of the heap of barley. Ruth approached quietly, uncovered his feet, and lay down. Something startled him about midnight. He saw the woman at his feet. read more.
He said: Who are you? She answered: I am your servant Ruth. Spread your garment over me, for you are my kinsman. It is true that I am a close relative, but there is a relation nearer than I. Rest here tonight. In the morning, if he wants to redeem you, for it is right for a relation to do this, very well, let him do so. But if he will not, then as surely as Jehovah lives, I will do so.

Look I will place wool on the threshing floor where we thresh the wheat. If in the morning there is dew only on the wool but not on the ground, I will know that you are going to use me to rescue Israel.

As they came to the threshing place of Nacon, the oxen stumbled, and Uzzah reached out and took hold of the Ark of the Covenant.

They mourned loudly for a long time at the threshing place at Atad east of the Jordan. Joseph performed mourning ceremonies for seven days. The citizens of Canaan saw those people mourning at Atad. They said: What a solemn ceremony of mourning the Egyptians are holding! That is why the place was named Abel-mizraim.

The threshing floors will be full of wheat, and the vats will overflow with new wine and oil.

David heard that the Philistines attacked the town of Keilah. They robbed the threshing floors of the newly harvested grain.

Boaz is of our kindred, with whose servant girls you have been. He winnows barley tonight in the threshing floor. Wash and perfume yourself and put on your best clothes. Go down to the floor. Make yourself known to the man after he is done eating and drinking. When he lies down, notice the place where he lies down. Go in, uncover his feet and lay down. He will tell you what you should do. read more.

She slept there at his feet until morning. She got up before it was light enough for anyone to see. He said: Do not let anyone know that a woman came to the grain floor.

There will not be enough grain to feed people. There will not be enough wine to go around.

Who can find a virtuous woman? For her value is far above corals. The heart of her husband safely trusts her. He will have no lack of gain. She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life. read more.
She seeks wool, and flax, and works willingly with her hands. She is like the merchants' ships for she brings her food from afar. She rises while it is still night and provides food for her household, and a portion to her maidens. She considers a field and buys it. With the fruit of her hands she plants a vineyard. She fortifies herself with strength and strengthens her arms. She perceives that her merchandise is good. Her candle does not go out at night. She stretches her hands to the spindle and her hands hold the distaff. She stretches out her hand to the poor. Yes, she reaches forth her hands to the needy. She is not afraid of the snow for her household. All her household is clothed with scarlet. She makes herself coverings of tapestry. Her clothing is silk and purple. Her husband is known in the gates when he sits among the elders of the land. She makes fine linen and sells it. She supplies sashes for the merchants. Strength and honor are her clothing. She will rejoice in time to come. She opens her mouth with wisdom and in her tongue is the law of kindness (she speaks kind things). She watches over her household, and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children arise up and call her blessed. Her husband also praises her. Many daughters have done well, but you are above them all. Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain. But a woman who respects Jehovah will be praised.

And now, my daughter, have no fear. I will do for you whatever you say, for it is clear to all my townspeople that you are a woman of virtue.
