I must perform the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night is coming, when no man can work. while I am in the world, I am the light of the world. having said this, he spit on the ground, which by means of his saliva he made into clay, wherewith he anointed the eyes of the blind man, and said to him, go wash in the pool of Siloam (a word which signifies sent.) so he went and washed, and came seeing. the neighbours therefore, and they who before had seen him begging, said, is not this he that used to sit begging? this is he, said some; he is like him, said others: but he said, I am the man. thereupon they said to him, how did you come to your sight? he answered, a man call'd Jesus made clay, and anointed my eyes, and said to me, go to the pool of Siloam, and wash: I went, and washed, and so I saw.
