"Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted. "Blessed are the gentle, for they shall inherit the earth." "Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for the righteousness, for they shall be completely satisfied. "Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy. "Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God. "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God. "Blessed are those who have been persecuted in the cause of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. "Blessed are you when they shall revile you, and persecute you, and say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my name's sake. "Rejoice and exult in it, because your reward was great in the heavens; for so did they persecute the prophets before you. "You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt lose its savor, in what way shall it be salted? It is henceforth good for nothing but to be thrown out and trodden under foot of men. "You are the light of the world. A city built on a hilltop cannot be hid; "nor do men light a lamp, and put it under the bushel, but on the lamp-stand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. "So let your light shine before men that they may see good you do, and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.
