In the fifteenth year of the reign of the Emperor Tiberius, when Pontius Pilate was governor of Judea, and Herod governor of Galilee, while his brother Philip was governor of the territory of Iturea and Trachonitis, and Lysanias was the governor of Abilene,

but Herod the governor, whom he condemned because of Herodias, his brother's wife, and all the wicked things Herod had done,

For Herod had seized John and bound him and put him in prison, on account of Herodias, his brother Philip's wife,

For it was Herod who had sent and seized John and bound him and put him in prison, on account of Herodias, his brother Philip's wife, because Herod had married her.


"Tell me, of whom is the prophet speaking?" said the eunuch to Philip, "Of himself, or of someone else?"


The next day we left there and went on to Caesarea, where we went to the house of Philip the missionary, who was one of the Seven, and stayed with him.




This plan met the approval of the whole body, and they selected Stephen, a man full of faith and of the holy Spirit, with Philip, Prochorus, Nicanor, Timon, Parmenas, and Nicholas of Antioch, who had been a convert to Judaism.
