Thematic Bible: The multitude fed

Thematic Bible

When evening fell, the disciples came up to him and said, "It is a desert place and the day is now gone; send off the crowds to buy food for themselves in the villages." Jesus said to them, "They do not need to go away; give them some food yourselves." They said, "We have only five loaves with us and two fish." read more.
He said, "Bring them here to me." Then he ordered the crowds to recline on the grass, and after taking the five loaves and the two fish he looked up to heaven, blessed them, and after breaking the loaves handed them to the disciples, and the disciples handed them to the crowds. They all ate and had enough; besides, they picked up the fragments left over and filled twelve baskets with them. The men who ate numbered about five thousand, apart from the women and children.

Then Jesus called his disciples and said, "I am sorry for the crowd; they have been three days with me now, and they have nothing to eat. I will not send them away starving, in case they faint on the road." The disciples said to him, "Where are we to get loaves enough in a desert to satisfy such a crowd?" Jesus said to them, "How many loaves have you got?" They said, "Seven, and some little fish." read more.
So he ordered the crowd to recline on the ground. He took the seven loaves and the fish and after giving thanks he broke them and gave them to the disciples, and the disciples to the crowds. So the people all ate and were satisfied, and they picked up the fragments left over and filled seven large baskets with them. The men who ate numbered four thousand, apart from the children and the women.
