"Have you not read," answered Jesus, "what David did when he was hungry, and his men, too? "How he went into the House of God, and there they ate the loaves of the Presence, which neither he nor his men were permitted to eat, but the priests only?
He answered them. "Have you never read what David did when he was needy and hungry, he and his men? How he went into the house of God when Abiathar was priest, and ate the consecrated bread, which none but priests may eat, and gave some to his men?
"Have you never read," answered Jesus, "what David did when he and his followers were hungry? "How he entered into God's house and took and ate the Presented Loaves, and gave some to his followers, loaves which none must eat but the priests?
