And Yahweh said to the {Israelites}, "[Did I] not [deliver you] from [the] Egyptians, the Amorites, from the {Ammonites}, and from the Philistines? And when [the] Sidonians, [the] Amalekites, and [the] Maonites oppressed you, you cried out to me, and I delivered you from their hand. Yet you have abandoned me and served other gods. Go and cry out to the gods whom you have chosen; let them deliver you in the time of your trouble."

Those who lavish gold from [the] purse and weigh out silver in the balance scales; hire {a goldsmith} and he makes him a god; they bow down, indeed they bow in worship. They carry it on [their] shoulder; they support it and they set it [in] its place, and it stands in position. It cannot be removed from its place; even [when] he cries out to it, it does not answer. It does not save him from his trouble.

I [am] Yahweh your God since the land of Egypt; you know no god except me, and no one saves besides me. I fed you in the desert, in the land of drought. When I fed them, they were satisfied; they were satisfied and their heart was lifted up; therefore they forgot me. read more.
And I will be like a lion to them; I lie in wait beside [the] way, like a leopard. I will attack them like a bear robbed of her offspring, and I will tear open the covering of their heart; there I will devour them like a lion, like an animal of the field would mutilate them.
