Thematic Bible: What not to hear

As I exhorted you to continue in Ephesus, when I was journeying into Macedonia, that you might charge certain ones not to teach a different doctrine, nor to give heed to fables and endless genealogies; which, indeed, occasion disputes rather than God's dispensation, which is in faith, so do I now.

For there are many unruly men, vain-talkers and deceivers, especially those of the circumcision, whom it is needful to reduce to silence: who, indeed, are overthrowing whole houses, teaching what they ought not, for the sake of base gain. This testimony is true. For which cause, reprove them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith; not giving heed to Jewish fables, and commandments of men who turn away from the truth.
