For there will be a time when they will not endure the healthful teaching; but, having itching ears, they will for themselves heap up teachers according to their own desires; and will turn away their ears from the truth, and will turn aside to the fables.
As I exhorted you to continue in Ephesus, when I was journeying into Macedonia, that you might charge certain ones not to teach a different doctrine, nor to give heed to fables and endless genealogies; which, indeed, occasion disputes rather than God's dispensation, which is in faith, so do I now.
Suggesting these things to the brethren, you will be a good minister of Christ Jesus, nourished in the words of the faith and of the good teaching which you have strictly followed; but refuse the profane and old wives fables, and exercise yourself unto godliness; for bodily exercise is profitable for a little; but godliness is profitable for all things, having promise of the life which is present and that to come.
This testimony is true. For which cause, reprove them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith; not giving heed to Jewish fables, and commandments of men who turn away from the truth.
But the Spirit expressly saith, that in later times, some will fall away from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and to teachings of demons, in hypocrisy of men speaking lies, branded in their own conscience with a hot iron; forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from foods, which God created for reception with thanksgiving by those who believe and have full knowledge of the truth.read more.
Because every creature of God is good, and nothing is to be rejected, when it is received with thanksgiving; for it is sanctified through the word of God and intercession.
