The disciples asked him: Why do you speak in illustrations? He responded: You are allowed to know the divine secrets of the kingdom of heaven, but it is not for others to know. (The Greek word for you is plural and is applied to the disciples as a group.)

When he was alone his followers including the twelve asked about the illustrations. He told them: The secret of the kingdom of God is given to you. Illustrations are spoken to outsiders.

His disciples asked him what this illustration means. He said: You are meant to know the secrets of the kingdom of God. I speak to the rest in illustrations, that seeing they may not see and hearing they may not understand.

Then he poured water into the basin and washed the disciples' feet. He wiped them with the towel he was wearing. When he approached, Simon Peter said: Lord do you wash my feet? You do not know what I do now, Jesus said: but you will understand later. read more.
Peter said: You will never wash my feet. Jesus answered him: If I do not wash you; you have no part with me. Simon Peter replied: Lord, not my feet only, but also my hands and my head.

For this cause I, Paul, am the prisoner of Christ Jesus on behalf of you people of the nations. You have heard of the stewardship of God's loving kindness that was given to me with you in view. The secret was made known to me by revelation, just as I wrote before in few words. read more.

It was not made known to other generations of the sons of men, as it has now been revealed to his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit. The Gentiles are fellow-heirs, and fellow-members of the body, and fellow-partakers of the promise in Christ Jesus through the good news.
