And the disciples came to Him and said, Why dost thou speak to them in parables? And He answered them, saying, Because it is granted unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not granted:
And when He was apart from the multitude, those that were about Him with the twelve asked Him concerning the parable. And he said unto them, To you it is granted to know the mystery of the kingdom of God; but unto them that are without all things are delivered in parables:
And his disciples asked Him, what might be the meaning of this parable. And He said, To you it is granted to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God: but I speak to others in parables, that in seeing they may not see, and hearing they may not understand.
and then pouring water into a bason, began to wash the feet of his disciples, and to wipe them with the towel wherewith He was girded. He cometh therefore to Simon Peter among the rest, who saith unto Him, Lord, dost thou wash my feet? Jesus answered and said unto him, What I do thou dost not now understand, but thou shalt know hereafter. read more.
Peter saith to Him, Thou shalt never wash my feet. Jesus answered him, If I do not wash thee, thou hast no part with me. Simon Peter saith unto Him, Lord, not my feet only, but also my hands and my head.
