Then shall the virgin rejoice in the dance, both young men and old together; for I will turn their mourning into joy and will comfort them and make them rejoice from their sorrow.

but unto the damsel thou shalt do nothing; there is in the damsel no sin worthy of death; for as when a man rises against his neighbour and murders him, even so is this matter. For he found her in the field and the betrothed damsel cried out, and there was no one to save her.


If a man should entice a virgin that is not betrothed and lie with her, he shall surely endow her and take her to be his wife. If her father utterly refuses to give her unto him, he shall pay money according to the dowry of virgins.
