And Judah took a wife for Er his firstborn, whose name was Tamar.

And Abraham said unto his eldest slave of his house, who ruled over all that he had, Put, I pray thee, thy hand under my thigh, and I will make thee swear by the LORD, the God of the heavens and the God of the earth, that thou shalt not take a wife unto my son of the daughters of the Canaanites, among whom I dwell; but thou shalt go unto my country and to my kindred and take a wife unto my son Isaac.

And he dwelt in the wilderness of Paran, and his mother took a wife for him out of the land of Egypt.

Then they said, We will call the damsel and enquire at her mouth. And they called Rebekah and said unto her, Wilt thou go with this man? And she said, I will go.

And Shechem spoke unto his father Hamor, saying, Get me this damsel to wife.

But Michal, Saul's other daughter, loved David, and they told Saul, and the thing pleased him.

And Moses was content to dwell with the man; and he gave Moses Zipporah, his daughter.

And Saul said, I will give her to him that she may be a snare to him and that the hand of the Philistines may be against him. Therefore, Saul said to David, Thou shalt this day be my son-in-law with the other one.

And Jacob loved Rachel and said, I will serve thee seven years for Rachel, thy younger daughter.

Ask me for as much dowry and gift as ye desire, and I will give according as ye shall say unto me; but give me the damsel to wife.

And he went in also unto Rachel, and he loved also Rachel more than Leah and served with him yet another seven years.

If a man should entice a virgin that is not betrothed and lie with her, he shall surely endow her and take her to be his wife. If her father utterly refuses to give her unto him, he shall pay money according to the dowry of virgins.

And Saul said, Thus shall ye say to David, The desire of the king is not in any dowry, but one hundred foreskins of the Philistines, to be avenged of the king's enemies. For Saul thought to make David fall by the hand of the Philistines.

And the slave brought forth vessels of silver and vessels of gold and raiment and gave them to Rebekah; he also gave precious things to her brother and to her mother.

So they sent away Rebekah, their sister, and her nurse and Abraham's slave and his men.

And Laban gave unto his daughter Leah Zilpah, his maid, for a handmaid.

And it came to pass when he took her that he persuaded her to ask her father for land to cultivate. And she lighted from off her ass, and Caleb said unto her, What wilt thou? And she said unto him, Give me a blessing, for thou hast given me a dry land; give me also springs of water. And Caleb gave her the upper springs and the lower springs.

And I put nose rings upon thy nostrils and earrings in thine ears and a diadem of beauty upon thine head. Thus wast thou decked with gold and silver; and thy raiment was of fine linen and silk and broidered work; thou didst eat fine flour of wheat and honey and oil: and thou wast made exceeding beautiful, and thou hast prospered even until thou hast reigned.

The king's daughter is all glorious within: her clothing is of wrought gold.

I will greatly rejoice in the LORD; my soul shall be joyful in my God; for he has clothed me with the garments of saving health; he has surrounded me with the robe of righteousness; as a bridegroom he has arrayed me, and as a bride made up of his jewels.

Shall the virgin, perchance, forget her ornaments, or a bride her attire? yet my people have forgotten me days without number.

And Jesus said unto them, Can those who are in a wedding fast while the bridegroom is with them? as long as they have the bridegroom with them, they cannot fast.

And he said unto them, Can ye make the sons of the bridechamber fast while the bridegroom is with them?

Then shall the kingdom of the heavens be likened unto ten virgins who, taking their lamps, went forth to meet the bridegroom. And five of them were prudent, and five were foolish. Those that were foolish took their lamps and took no oil with them;read more.
but the prudent took oil in their vessels with their lamps. While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept. And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom comes; go ye out to meet him. Then all those virgins arose and trimmed their lamps. And the foolish said unto the prudent, Give us of your oil, for our lamps are going out. But the prudent answered, saying, Lest there be not enough for us and you, but go ye rather to them that sell and buy for yourselves. And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and those that were ready went in with him to the marriage, and the door was shut.

So Laban gathered together all the men of the place and made a banquet.

So his father went down unto the woman; and Samson made a banquet there, for the young men used to do so.

The kingdom of the heavens is like unto a certain man, a king, who made a marriage feast for his son

And he said unto me, Write, Blessed are those who are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he said unto me, These are the true words of God.

The fire consumed their young men; and their virgins were not honored in marriage songs.

For as a young man marries a virgin, so shall thy sons marry thee; and as the bridegroom rejoices with the bride, so shall thy God rejoice with thee.

Then I will cause to cease from the cities of Judah and from the streets of Jerusalem, the voice of mirth and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom, and the voice of the bride: for the land shall be desolate.

the voice of joy, and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom, and the voice of the bride, the voice of those that shall say, Praise the LORD of the hosts; for the LORD is good; for his mercy endures for ever: and of those that shall bring the sacrifice of praise into the house of the LORD. For I will cause the captivity of the land to turn as at the first, said the LORD.

and sent forth his slaves to call those that were invited to the wedding, and they would not come. Again, he sent forth other slaves, saying, Tell those who are invited, Behold, I have prepared my dinner; my bulls and my fatlings are killed, and all things are ready; come unto the marriage.

But they made light of it and went their ways, one to his farm, another to his merchandise, and the others took his slaves and entreated them spitefully and slew them. But when the king heard of this, he became angry and sent forth his armies and destroyed those murderers and burned up their city.

And they all with one consent began to make excuse. The first said unto him, I have bought a field, and I have need to go and see it; I pray thee have me excused. And another said, I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I go to prove them; I pray thee have me excused. And another said, I have married a wife, and therefore I cannot come.read more.
So that slave came and showed his lord these things. Then the husband of the house, being angry, said to his slave, Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the city and bring in here the poor and the maimed and the halt and the blind.

And when the king came in to see the guests, he saw there a man who did not have on a wedding garment, and he said unto him, Friend, how didst thou come in here not having a wedding garment? And he was speechless.
