And the Pharisees came near to him, tempting him, and saying to him, 'Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife for every cause?' And he answering said to them, 'Did ye not read, that He who made them, from the beginning a male and a female made them, and said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and cleave to his wife, and they shall be -- the two -- for one flesh?read more.
so that they are no more two, but one flesh; what therefore God did join together, let no man put asunder.'

And the Pharisees, having come near, questioned him, if it is lawful for a husband to put away a wife, tempting him, and he answering said to them, 'What did Moses command you?' and they said, 'Moses suffered to write a bill of divorce, and to put away.'read more.

therefore doth a man leave his father and his mother, and hath cleaved unto his wife, and they have become one flesh.
