and he shall be a joy and transport to thee, yea, many shall rejoice on account of his birth; for he shall be great in the sight of the Lord, and he shall drink neither wine nor any other strong liquor; and he shall be filled with the holy Spirit even from his birth; and many of the children of Israel shall he convert unto the Lord their God.read more.
And he shall go before Him in the spirit and power of Elias, to turn the hearts of the fathers unto the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just, to prepare for the Lord a people well-disposed. And Zacharias said unto the angel, Whereby shall I know this? for I am an old man, and my wife far advanced in years. And the angel answering said to him, I am Gabriel, that stand in the presence of God, and I am sent to speak to thee, and to tell thee this good news:

blessed art thou among women! and when she saw him, she was confused at what he said, and pondered in her mind what sort of salutation this could be. And there were in the same country shepherds out in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night: and lo, an angel of the Lord stood over them, and the glory of the Lord shone round them, and they were greatly terrified: and the angel said to them, Be not affrighted; for behold I bring you good tidings of great joy which shall be to all people,read more.

Come, see the place where the Lord lay: and go quickly, and tell his disciples that He is risen from the dead; and behold, He is going before you into Galilee; there ye shall see Him; lo, I have told you.

And they went into the sepulchre and saw a young man sitting on the right side, clothed in a long white robe; and they were affrighted: but he said to them, Be not affrighted, ye seek Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified, He is risen, He is not here, see the place where they laid Him. But go, tell his disciples, and Peter particularly, that He is going before you into Galilee: there ye will see Him, as He told you.

And while they were in perplexity about it, behold, two men stood by them in shining robes. And as they were afraid, and bowed down their faces to the ground, the men said unto them, Why do ye seek the living among the dead? He is not here, He is risen: remember how He spake to you, when He was yet in Galilee,read more.
saying, the Son of man must be delivered into the hands of wicked men, and be crucified; and the third day rise again.

So the two disciples went away again to their own company. But Mary stood without near the sepulchre weeping: and as she wept she stooped down to look into the sepulchre; and there seeth two angels in white sitting, one at the head, and one at the feet, where the body of Jesus had lain.read more.
And they said to her, Woman, why dost thou weep? She saith unto them, Because they have taken away my Lord, and I know not where they have laid Him. And having said this, she turned back, and saw Jesus standing, and knew not that it was Jesus.

And while they were looking stedfastly toward heaven, as He went up, behold two men in white stood by them; who said, Ye men of Galilee, why do ye stand gazing up to heaven? This Jesus who is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in the manner ye have seen Him going into heaven.
