And every man that strives for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown, but we, an incorruptible one. I therefore so run, not as unto an uncertain thing; so I fight, not as one that beats the air; but I keep my body under, and bring it into subjection, lest preaching to others, I myself should become reprobate.
Know ye not that those who run in a race indeed all run, but one receives the prize? So run, that ye may obtain it.
For bodily exercise profits a little, but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is and of that which is to come.
What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom ye have of God, and that ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price, therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's.
It is true that no chastening at present seems to be cause for joy, but rather for grief; nevertheless, afterward it yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto those who are exercised by it. Therefore, lift up the hands which hang down, and the feeble knees, and make straight steps unto your feet, so that which is lame will not turn out of the way, but let it rather be healed.
