not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the custom of some is, but exhorting one another; and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.

Obey your leaders, and submit yourselves to them; for they keep watch in behalf of your souls, as those who must give an account; that they may do this with joy, and not with grief; for this is not for your advantage.

And they were constantly attending on the teaching of the apostles, and the imparting [of their substance], the breaking of bread, and the prayers.

Take heed therefore to yourselves, and to all the flock over which the Holy Spirit made you overseers, to feed the church of the Lord, which he purchased with his own blood.

Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honor; especially they who labor in the word and in teaching.

Remember your leaders, who spoke to you the word of God; and considering well the end of their manner of life, imitate their faith.

knowing this first, that no prophecy of the Scripture cometh from private interpretation. For prophecy never came by the will of man; but moved by the Holy Spirit, men spoke from God.

And attending daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread in a private house, they partook of their food with gladness and singleness of heart, praising God, and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily those who were in the way of salvation.

If then there is any exhortation in Christ, if any encouragement from love, if any partaking of the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion,

God appointed some in the church to be, in the first place, apostles, in the second place, prophets, in the third place, teachers, then miracles, then gifts of healing, those of helping and of governing, divers kinds of tongues. Are all apostles?

For in the first place, when ye come together in assembly of the church, I hear that there are divisions among you; and I partly believe it;

but if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanseth us from all sin.

And on the first day of the week, when we had assembled to break bread, Paul discoursed to them, being about to depart on the morrow, and continued the discourse until midnight.

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly; in all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms, hymns, spiritual songs, in grace singing in your hearts to God;

for the perfecting of the saints for the work of ministration, for the building up of the body of Christ;

God is faithful, by whom ye were called into the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord.

And when they had published the glad tidings to that city, and had made many disciples, they went back to Lystra, and to Iconium, and to Antioch; confirming the souls of the disciples, exhorting them to continue in the faith, and saying that it is through many afflictions that we mast enter into the kingdom of God. but prove all things; hold fast that which is good; abstain from every form of evil.

And to the angel of the church in Laodicea write: These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God:

The elders among you I exhort, who am a fellowelder, and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, who am also a sharer in the glory that is to be revealed; tend the flock of God which is among you, overseeing it, not by constraint, but willingly; not for base gain, but with ready mind; not as lording it over your allotted charge, but being examples to the flock;read more.
and when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye will receive the crown of glory that fadeth not away.

And he gave some to be apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; for the perfecting of the saints for the work of ministration, for the building up of the body of Christ;

And from Miletus he sent to Ephesus, and called the elders of the church.

I exhort you, therefore, I the prisoner in the Lord, to walk worthily of the calling with which ye were called, with all humility and meekness, with longsuffering; bearing with one another in love, endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.read more.

For this cause I left thee behind in Crete, that thou shouldst set in order the things that are wanting, and appoint elders in every city, as I directed thee;
