Be constant in prayer, watching in it with thanksgiving,

Blessed are those servants whom their lord when he comes shall find watching. I tell you truly, that he will gird himself, and cause them to recline, and he will come and wait upon them. And if he comes in the second watch, and comes in the third watch, and finds them thus, blessed are they.

Therefore let us not sleep as others, but let us watch and be sober. For they that sleep sleep in the night, and they that are drunk drink in the night; but let us who are of day be sober, putting on a cuirass of faith and love, and for a helmet the hope of salvation,
